I rented from Hillcrest Properties (1975 Ridgeway Drive DePere, WI)during 2013. I watched for months, as the first floor hallways were saturated (down every hall) from a leaking AC unit that they refused to have property fixed. Small buckets were placed under the leaks, but only picked up a small % of the water. One fan was used occasionally down one hallway while the others were left completely saturated with no attempt to dry the carpeting. I called the city of DePere Housing Inspector and a citation was written. After talking to other tenants, they told me the leaking has gone on for years. An elderly person told me that she had been getting sick (long before I moved there) from the fungi growing in the carpeting. She said they threatened a lawsuit if she broker her lease. I was also having a reaction to the microorganisms growing in the hallway carpeting. My body's immune system now sees different foods as an attacker now because of it. I react to anything that's made with mold or yeast (both are types of fungi) as well as any foods that help support the fungi growth. When I reported the problem to the operations manager, along with the photos of the rash on my eyes/throat/lips, they still left the carpeting outside my door to be saturated for another week before attending to the issue (after I had the Housing Inspector come in). The cleaning lady was talking to the inspector and told him that the manager knew they needed to hire a professional to fix the leaking AC but didn't want to spend the money. I have moved out of the apartment complex, but the carpeting still hasn't been removed. I am currently in a lawsuit with Hillcrest for health/personal injury damages caused by their severe negligence.
