RE: [redacted] - Revdex.com CASE #XXXXXXX
Mr. [redacted] seems to have a complaint wherein he feels that the price...
of repair parts to correct the safety issues with the vehicle were too high. The parts pricing aspect is addressed below, as indicated.
Emissions aspect: A battery had been replaced in the vehicle just prior to the vehicle coming in for Missouri State Inspections. Therefore, the monitors were not set so as to conform to the requirements of the Missouri State Highway Patrol. That is why no emission testing could be made until the vehicle would go through the emission monitors - drive cycle. The customer was advised of the above and we detailed the Safety items for repair as well.
Customer approved repairs for the Safety issues. Customer paid for Safety repairs and was informed again in detail on what he needed to do (drive cycles) so that we could perform the emissions test.
The customer followed thru on the emissions requirements. We then could perform the emission tests. At that point it showed that a catalytic converter would be required to pass emissions test. We priced a direct fit catalytic converter for approximately $480. Installed.
Pricing aspect:
Mr. [redacted] mentions that he feels that the parts had been priced Five Times higher than they should have been. Attached is a copy of the invoice with parts, etc. I submit to you that you gather the parts pricing from any three (3) ASE Repair Shops and have them price the parts by part number. Your validated findings will show you that our price on parts is not only competitive, but less than the average of the three shops you contact. If it's more, we will refund the difference.
Sincerely,
