I purchased kitchen appliances through Highway Appliance on 1-31-19 for the amount of $3784.07. I filled out a credit card account application through Nationwide Marketing Group from Highway Appliance for the purchase of the appliances. I was approved for the credit limit needed for the appliances. I've been making my monthly payments and found out that Wells Fargo charged $1,147.29 in interest on 3-08-2020 that I was completely unaware of. I called Wells Fargo and spoke to customer service and they don't even have the correct booklet on file that I got from Highway Appliance. My application book code is 0318 which is not what they have. They then told me to file a dispute to get the interest charge removed. It's been almost 3 months and I have not heard anything about the issue nor can I get through to them. I then went to Highway Appliance and spoke to the sales person I had originally done business with who's name is Carla R. She told me that the contract was for a promotional period of 12 months but, when I originally signed the paperwork, nothing was said about being charged interest if not paid within 12 months. She did not explain anything to me when signing paperwork and the paperwork that I have has nothing stating about it being a promotional period of 12 months. She did make conversation when signing paperwork but it had nothing to do with what I was signing. I was under the understanding there was no specific timelines for being charged interest. When going through paperwork, she also had paperwork covered up so that only the signature section was showing. What I signed also was not my full name. for example: My name is *** and on the paperwork it only has *** which is incorrect. When trying to talk to Carla down at Highway Appliance, the only response from her was "that sucks".
The dates for everything in the customer complaint look correct, but as to the that lack of knowledge on the terms, we have the signed paperwork that shows they were informed.
First, they state that they were unaware that interest was accruing. In addition to the signed Cardholder Terms attached, the interest accrued would have been stated in every statement that the customer received through the length of the financing. The due date to make full payment by to avoid those finance charges would also have been on each statement.
Second, they say there was no specific timelines for being charged interest. What they applied for was 12 month financing. They would've only been offered 6 or 12 month financing, this one being the longer term. It is also stated in the attached Cardholder Terms. We don't know how they could think that they were getting financing that never accrued finance charges.
Third, they insinuate that there was paperwork covered up. We receive absolutely no benefit, financially or otherwise, if this financing is not paid in time. We hope that all of our customers that use that financing can pay it off to avoid the charges. If they would've thought we were hiding something at the time, wouldn't they have checked to see what they were signing. Also, if that was the way we would do business, wouldn't we have other complaints in the decades that this financing has existed.
Fourth, the customer signed the Cardholder Terms as the same name as what he applied for the credit as. We have the original credit approval here with that as his name.
The customer was shown the signed paperwork when he stopped in to complain on the day he filed this complaint. If he really thought that this problem was our fault, why didn't he call or stop in to say something until this had been an issue for over 2 months? It is unfortunate that this situation has occurred, but we did everything that we are supposed to do.
All of that being said, we will still make a call on the customer's behalf to see if there is something they can do form them. I can't promise they will do anything as they did everything on there end correctly also, as far as we know.
Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

In response to the business, I pay my bill online and when I noticed that there was over $1000.00 in interest charges, I did contact Wells Fargo the day I found out and disputed the charge. I couldn’t get ahold of highway appliance due to them being closed for the covid-19 pandemic. Therefore, I had to wait for them to open to find out more information. When I spoke to the sales person, they were rude and unprofessional being that we went with a small town business and supported them. If this is how they want to treat their customers, then that’s pretty upsetting considering the sales person was not informal at all when it came to the financial side of this situation. I have no problem paying my bill but, they should be responsible for the misinformation and lack of information and blindsided by interest I was charged due to how their sale person mishandled her job.

I purchased a stove top 3 years ago and have nothing but problems with it, it's been serviced 3 times, the serviceman replaced it with a fuse on 3 occations. last week I had a electrician out and was told there wasn't a problem with my electrical wiring to my home the issue was with the stove top wiring..the stove top was not even grounded which is illigal. also I was told I would have a serviceman come to the house to look at the stove... it needs to be replaced and properly wired. I haven't had a working stove top in about a month now!!! servicing this stove top isn't going to help.. it needs to be taken out of my home!
We have been in touch with the customer to set up coming out to assess the situation. She could not have us this week and is willing to wait until our most experienced tech is available to go out. We will update after the situation has been reviewed.
Purchased refrigerator from Highway Appliance on Oct and was delivered on Oct. 14, 2017. A few days after delivery we noticed these bugs and were coming from behind ref. I pulled my ref. out and saw all these bugs contained in back of ref. which is boxed in . I immediately went to Walmart and bought sticky forms for rodents and laid them out . Also my son said to go get Boric Acid foe bugs and rodents which I did and spread out behind ref. Many more as I found out they are called German Roaches. I am a pretty clean person with a clean house and I never had any kind of bugs before only stink bugs. I also laid these mats out on rafters in basement and after several days checked them. The mats didn't have even one bug on them so I knew they were contained to behind ref. After several weeks of battling these rodents I called Orkin Pest Control. They came out on Dec 7 When the service man came in he immediately said it wasn't caused from dirtiness. He checked area and said the bugs came from inside back 0f ref. carried in with delivery. Treated house which is going to cost me $534.24 plus $89.04 upon arrival. I told Highway and they said they aren't responsible. I feel they are and should pay for my treatment. Never had them before delivery of ref
We were in touch with the manufacturer as to the nature of this problem. The manufacturers rep asked that we have the customer contact GE for a possible resolution to the issue. We are not aware whether or not the customer did so, as they were advised this on 12/12. We will contact the GE rep again on our own and see if we can resolve the issue without contact by the customer to them. I will update after we have been in contact with GE.
