I was directed by the state of Wisconsin to contact Herrick and Hart for a consultation that was to cost me nothing. I met with [redacted] about a potential work issue I was having. I have never had to use law services in the past so was unaware of them being able to charge with me with out a contract. I had been charged from Herrick and Hart for initial consultation that I was told would not cost me anything, phone messages I left, brief phone conversations I had with [redacted], emails that I had written to her, and a letter I had her write to my previous employer. The only thing I was aware that I was being charged for was the letter. It was not until I received a bill for over $900.00 that I felt like I was taken advantage of. As I had stated to [redacted] if I would have known that I was being charged for every 2 minute phone call and every email I carbon copied her on I would have treated this situation much differently. I was not expecting a bill for $967.86 when I had to do all the work but write a 5 minute letter.
