Heritage Construction and roofing put a new roof on my name in of December 2017. To date there has been no invoice or bill.
Heritage Construction and roofing put a roof on my home on my home in December of 2017: There is a deductible due to the damage caused by a hurricane: from December until 7/6/2018 I never received a contact from the company except a voice mail message on 6/29/2018: I spoke with Anab and told her that to date I have not received and invoice or bill: she stated she would mail one out right away. To date I have not received any invoice: I mailed out a letter requesting . I mailed out a letter requesting an invoice and once received I forward a check to them: I faxed a copy of the letter to heritage on 7/10/2018 at 11:42 am-11:43 am and 12:38:pm: To date I have not received any warranty information on my roof .
Received a final bill to be paid and warranty on the roof and workmanship
Hi *** I think everything was worked out with you as far as billing were still waiting on the last insurance check if you could respond to the Revdex.com
to close the complaint.
Thanks
Todd
I noticed I have a lien on my home and want it removed. They have been paid in full.
To whom it may concern, this company took 10 months to complete the work on my home. I have paid them in full and they have put a lien on my property that I would like removed. I have attached the payments they have received. Our contract that I have attached states that the only thing I was to pay was the deductible unless I ordered upgrades which I have not. This is the only document I have in writing with this company. I also have received no itemized bill of the work they have completed of materials and labor costs or any communication with their billing department.
Lien removed from my property at*** and a detailed list of work and labor costs. A receipt of all payments that were made.
Mr. you have a lien on your home because you haven't paid the additional amounts to have your trusses leveled for drywall, the invoice is attached, you agreed by phone to pay for this before we started the work. you were invoiced on 2/12/18 and at this point there is still an open balance.
As far as your complaint with the Revdex.com it can be resolved with your prompt payment.
unfortunately the lien will have to stay on your home till this is payed.
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
To whom it may concern, I need a detailed description of everything involved such as labor, materials and other costs so I can forward that to my insurance company to supplement any remaining costs. For the Drywall you are also able to see all the seams in both the living room and the garage so whatever truss leveling was done was not done correctly. I will also have to blow in insulation myself as the insulation that was done does not match the rest of the home and doesn't seem to be as good as what I had before as my air-conditioning bill for June has greatly increased from last year at this time. It also took your company more than 10 months to complete work on my home from the date your company was contracted and in that time I had to pay a higher insurance premium because your company wasn't finished within the time that was promised. I was originally told by your sales person Larry that all costs would be covered except for the deductible which I have paid. He also said that you guys would reach out to my insurance company to procure any remaining costs that go over the initial estimate and if you were unable to do that we would still only owe the deductible per your contract. In your contract it states "Owners out of pocket expense will not exceed the deductible amount as stated in insurers loss sheet, Unless replacement repair/of Decking or owner requests optional upgrades. They didn't replace any decking and I didn't order any optional upgrades."
The Lien you filed was on June 22, 2018 and you were paid up until that point by the insurance of $8688.14 before you even started the job back on Nov 7, 2017 and I sent an email on June 18th explaining that I had a check for you from the insurance company for $11,699.64 and a check for the deductible of $5520 which I would give you once the work was finished. I gave the check of $11,699.64 on June 25th prior to completion and submitted the final payment when they finished the remaining screens on July 3, 2018 of $5520. I have a receipt of confirmation for all payments made and dates.
I have received only 1 invoice on June 19th 2018 for Truss work, deductible and building permits in the total amount of $7145 and the letter was post dated back to Feb 12, 2018 which is odd because the work didn't start on the interior until May 12th 2018 and I have attached the permit for proof of work date for your claimed truss work.
So what I am asking for is the lien to be removed from my property and you can work out any balance with my insurance company of any supplemental costs that were procured above the deductible as stated in your contract.
Sincerely
Waiting on final payment as soon as we get that
we will release the lien,
you have everything we did its on your loss sheet it is broken down in detail. no seams will be fixed until you pay the amount that you agreed to fix the trusses it was $1500.
your insurance company will not pay for sagging trusses.
I have received a payment from my insurance company in the amount of $7133.98 that was negotiated between you and them. If you would like to receive this final payment I need to see a Lien release that you will remove the lien from my home by Oct 1, 2018 and by giving you this payment that I am paid in full. I would also like any warranty items that you are able to provide along with a receipt of payment once it is made.
Caution Homeowners!
Do not sign an Assignment Of Benefits (AOB) with any contractor.
Many contractors are now using AOB's to make lots of money for themselves. Heritage is no exception. Essentially when an insurer (the homeowner) signs an AOB they are giving the contractor the right to any payment from an insurance claim for the work they do on your behalf. A salesperson will make this sound nice: "You won't have to fight with your insurance company, we'll take care of everything." While this sounds nice, it's really working in their favor, not yours! By signing the AOB you forfeit any and all leverage against the contractor to ensure they do a good job for you! They now only have to negotiate with your insurance company and do not have to deal with the homeowner at all. This becomes a problem when you personally have to meet with them at your home and have to ensure they are doing what is promised... When they do not follow through or miss appointments with you, you have no leverage against them what so ever! They are only obligated to negotiate with your insurance company. In my case, the reputable insurance company agreed to pay the contractor over $34,000 for a roof on a single family, 1 story, less than 3000 sq.ft. home in central Florida. That is over $14,000 above the cost of an average new roof in our neighborhood! Sadly every bit of that was paid and I am still unhappy with the resulting work they did! I implore you, please do not do business with Heritage Construction & Roofing which will only help to support their practices that are a considerable contribution to the skyrocketing cost of insurance premiums for all of us.
Please see some of the negative outcomes of AOB's here:
https://www.myfloridacfo.com/Division/ICA/AssignmentofBenefits.htm
Chris, It is unfortunate that you fell you were mislead in anyway, AOB's are a standard contract between home owners an their roofing company, you spoke of LEERAGE with the contractor, in your case you did not wont to pay your deductible!!! SAD you don't tell the whole story, that's exactly why we do an AOB to protect ourselves from profit Loss. the contract with the insurance company was 34,000
because as a general contractor in the state of Florida were allowed 20 profit and overhead and they missed allot of code allowances
and the fact that your roof was 48 sq NOT an average roof by no means.
Rates are going up not because of contractors but because the weather claims are increasing as the storms are increasing
as storm increase work loads become heaver heavier, reputable contractor are behind 6-8 weeks.
To be clear, I did not feel mislead and I have zero issue with paying my $6,400 deductible. I felt angry and disappointed with myself after learning the way that AOB's work and realized there was nothing I could do when your company would miss scheduled appointments and ignore messages and or requests. I also know beyond any reasonable doubt that your cost is highly inflated. Case in point; a neighbor, 2 streets over with an identical home model, and in fact 2 more pool solar panels than I have showed me their invoice which was slightly less than $20,000. Their roof was replaced 3 months prior to mine with the same premium shingles. They also replaced their 'off ridge vents' with upgraded 'wind turbines' which was included in that cost. I've spoken with several other neighbors that have had their roof replaced after the hurricane, none of which used Heritage, and none of which signed an AOB, but all of which when averaged together are less than $20,000. Three of them had significantly more damage than myself. Two are two story homes that are much larger than mine. It is blatantly obvious that Heritage Construction & Roofing is in the practice of inflating cost that is submitted to the insurance of homeowners and in my opinion should be stopped by law. While it is unfortunate that I have no ground to stand due to the AOB that I signed, I can only hope that the many insurance companies I have contacted in central Florida will consider this as a warning to them to watch out for companies such as Heritage.
Chris its standard procedure to correct the insurance company's estimate which always comes in low, you payed your deductible by law that's required great . as far as how much I make on a job that is my business and not yours to even worry about , as far as your neighbors I have know idea as to if their "contractor" is even legally doing business, have insurance, pay workers compensation or liability insurance if you feel that you need to be the advocate for the insurance company go right ahead and let them know I would be more than happy to cooperate, but trust me they know already exactly what they are doings to short their insureds estimate they are not stupid. AOB are a standard agreement to keep contractors from getting ripped of by Homeowners, we have been doing this for 20 + years and rarely get ripped off.
your statement for home owners not to sign an AOB is just your neglect to know what your fully talking about unless your upset that we would not negotiate the price with you? so that you could illegally keep moneys payed? 90 percent of home owner think that the insurance company owes them something for paying their premium for years but they don't. if you would like to come to the office we can talk a little more but as far as the Better Business involvement its really sad that you need to express something that has nothing to do with them, but is an expression of your frustration from not being able to keep some of the money, and really has cost you nothing but deductible.
Our roof was one of many damaged by Hurricane Irma. After calling 12 roofing companies, Daniel C, representing Heritage Construction and Roofing was the only one to answer/return my call and come assess our situation. At the time, I had not heard of Heritage but found them in a computer search. Daniel climbed right up and confirmed the missing shingles and damage I found and assured me it was likely but not guaranteed the roof would be covered for replacement. As we waited for an insurance adjuster to get around to us, Daniel made sure the damage was protected and was here to meet the adjuster at a scheduled appointment. In the meantime, I did my own digging on the company. Revdex.com has them rated as A+ with many glowing reviews and only three minor complaints in the three year history that Revdex.com displays. That is impressive in itself. People usually can't wait to complain but, few take the time to give a clear and positive review. Although there were some hiccups in communication since then because Daniel is no longer with the company, I was able to get in touch with others in the office to assist and guide me in the process leading up to the install. Julie S was just a phone call or email away to answer any concerns. I have to give her a LOT of credit as I know she has a great deal on her plate.
When our project was within a week of commencing, Brent M listed as Vice President of Sales, was put in touch with me. Since I hadn't spoken with him before this, he made it a point to call me and take the time to explain the process and answer any questions I had. He oversaw the roof replacement from start to finish.
The team that performed the replacement was very professional and respectful. They took care to protect things and do the job right. Most nails and all debris were removed each of the two days it took for the job.
I fully realize that we are but one of numerous roofing repair and replacement customers as a result of Irma. I have to say that I feel they did their best to meet our need as soon as humanly possible. I would certainly recommend their services.
Michael, thank you so much for the nice review, it does seam that people always want to complain but never have the time to say nice things, we really appreciate the nice review, if we can do anything in the future please don't hesitate to call
Thanks again
To W
I sign the contract on 1/24/2018 Not completing the job in a timely manner
Heritage Construction & Roofing didn't comply with the contract I sign on 1/24/18
1- After several calls and two personal visits to their office they come to replace my roof on April 12 & 13, 2018 and they stated they have a big work load more than what they could handle, making customers to wait an unreasonable amount of time. Not advising the customers before signing the contract on the long wait on roof replacement. Also, misleading customer into believing their deductible will be only $1,000 dollars.
2- Heritage company want to charge $19,516.87 only for the roof based on their estimate. My insurance company estimate said $10,818.88 I don't understand where the $8,698.00 difference is going to, Heritage Company had stated they will honor what my insurance company said; but it looks like this is not the case.
3- The insurance company gave a total of $311.36 to paint the master bedroom Heritage company wants $541.29 I still not understand the difference of $229.90
4- Bathroom 1 needs paint, Insurance company said $135.18 and Heritage Company estimate said $233.26 difference of $98.10
5- The fence so far in price is good, but we still waiting for fence to be replaced which I don't think is fair to be waiting that long in replacing 8' section of a wood fence this long.
6- Heritage company estimate includes gutters which my insurance company didn't say anything about replacing them but anyway they are trying to charge $1,043.04.
7- They replace the roof but fail to replace the skylight as stated in the insurance estimated. Gutters and fence are not yet done in addition that the skylight was not change.
8- The contract I sign to Heritage said I will have a deductible of $1,000 which was wrong because my insurance company charge me a $4,000 because the damages that I have in my house was because of hurricane Irma not like Heritage said it was; winds. They intentionally mislead me into believing that I will only have to pay $1,000 to bring me into a contract with them. Depriving me of the opportunity to find a more reasonable company that can do the job in a timely manner without being drag around for several months of coming and going and adding stress by their lack of professionalism.
9- I ask for Pristine Dove on the color for the roof and they replace it with Pristine Black.
Resolution:
The written cancellation of the contract without NO penalties or debts to my self; I will assume the responsibility of replacing the fence.
The written cancellation of the contract without penalties to my self; I will assume the responsibility of replacing the fence.
Mr., My name is Todd W I'm the owner of Heritage I can appreciate that you might be anxious to get your job done, we are out 8-10 weeks as we have been from the hurricane. All reputable roofing companies that are here in Florida are scheduled out the same, we did complete your roof on April 12th. as far as your deductible that has not been paid yet is $4040.00 this is set by your insurance company. that's a contract between you and them, we don't control that and we are not allowed by law to not collect it (your Deductible) which was deducted out of the monies owed to us, that's why we collect the deductible. and as far as the amount, the insurance agreed to pay off our loss sheet. (see attachment) We use the national standard in estimating software called*** which all insurance accepts, as far as the gutters its code to change the drip edge as most gutters are spike as yours was so we did remove and reinstall your gutters we are seeking payment for that at no cost to you. if you read your contract it says in plain English that the amount that the insurance company states on the loss sheet over rule what is written down. as far as releasing you out of the contract unfortunately that's not an option at this point as monies are still owed.
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I am an unhappy customer off your company; I will address your response to my complained. I know how to read plain English but I made the mistake of trusting your sales representative and read the contract late after the fact. I hope he is not damaging your company beyond repairs.
Please stop avoiding my complained and address each one off my concerns one by one in a respectful manner.
1) Your company replaced the roof but fail to replace the skylight as stated in the insurance estimate.
2) The roof color was supposed to be Pristine Dove and they put Pristine Black.
3) Your procrastination on the fence replacement had caused us one more challenge and we have to notify the insurance. The next door neighbor replaced it with plastic fence last week.
4) By misleading and not advising a customer of your work load, you deprived me off the opportunity to find a more reasonable company that can do the job in a timely manner without being drag around for several months of coming and going and added stress cost by their lack of professionalism.
Resolution: I want my new skylight and the Certificate of work completion, plus a reasonable compensation for each one of my concerns. It would be my responsibility what ever the insurance indicated as my deductible.

I signed a contract with Heritage Construction and Roofing company back in January of 2018. This company never got back to us until March of 2018 by the representative Brent. At this time Brent informed us everything is being worked on and it was a ping pong game with our insurance company. From the month of March-April we kept trying to communicate with Heritage Construction and Roofing and we kept getting the run around answer, waiting to hear back from our insurance company. We were able to get a hold of our insurance company each time and even tried to call with them online so we can expedite the hold up. Every time we kept trying to get a hold of Heritage we never got an answer back. Our insurance company went ahead and made out a check to us so we can move forward with another company if we wanted to. My husband and I ended up cancelling the contract with Heritage due to the lack of communication and being threatening that Heritage was going to put a lean on my house if we did not pay. Once I wrote my statement to them about the cancellation I received a $2,500.00 invoice from them. I called Gayle and asked her why was I invoiced for this when there has been lack of communication on their end. I emailed her about all the text messages and follow ups I did prior to making this decision to cancel. After sending her that she requested in email, I asked for a follow up call from Heritage within the next 5 business days. Once again she received my email but failed to follow up with me. I reach out again and was informed now that the owner was out of town and wasn't able to review the email. After speaking with her I did ask why couldn't anyone had just followed up with us to inform the owner was out of town and she replied back that they were busy. I informed her once again this is why we cancelled our contract due to lack of communication and keeping us updated would of been nice. Gayle then replied that my husband and I are harassing them and I simply answered follow up would of been nice.
Billing Adjustment I would like for Heritage Construction and Roofing to provide us with a letter of cancellation of the invoice and describing the contract is dismissed and there are no charges to myself and my husband ***.
Mr. & Mrs. I'm aware of the situation that you signed a contract with heritage to get your roof approved after they denied you. Brent did come out explained everything to you we meet the adjuster and got your claim approved and you never had us do the work, shame on you!!! the language is very clear in the contract, as far as releasing you its already turned over to our attorney's
if you come in by Friday and pay the 2500.00 I will settle your claim but you need to let us know by the end of today.
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
In January of 2018, we filed a claim with our insurance company in regards to having repairs done to our roof. Also during January of 2018, one of your staff met with me and the insurance claim adjuster to review the repairs needed for my roof. Heritage Roofing Company attempted to overcharge my insurance company the cost of the repairs, which significantly delayed my roof receiving the repairs it needed in a timely manner. This delay continued from January to April, which ultimately caused additional damage to my roof and dry wall.
Being frustrated with the delay and the additional damages the unreasonable delay had caused, I choose to find other roofing company to fix the problem. The new roofing company I hired completed the job to my complete satisfaction within two days. Heritage Roofing performed absolutely zero work to my roof, and their actions have actually cost me more time and money.
We have tried to resolve the issue regarding money you claim you are owed in a reasonable manner. However, and the only responses we have received are in the form of threats, unprofessional behavior, and silence. At this point we are ready to take legal action, if this dispute is not resolved soon.
Document Attached***
Mr. & Mrs. Insurance company denied their claim for a roof, they were helped by one of my sales staff to negotiate with a new adjuster on their behalf after signing a Contract. After several weeks we did get the***'s approved for a full roof replacement. As we have discussed with the***'s they were under contract for us to do the work since Heritage was the ones to get them approved they went and hired another contractor that was cheaper. Heritage is not in the business to do charity work, it took many hours and staff to work a finale agreement with the insurance company, our contracts are specific in this matter, you have 3 days to cancel with no penalties, the***'s have violated 3 parts of the contract that have been highlighted in yellow for the Revdex.com review
1. they contracted with us to do the work
2. they agreed in the contract not to hire another contractor
3. failed to pay the 2500 cancelation
fee for services rendered.
We have talked to the***'s on many occasions
We are providing the notes from conversations
all doc's are uploaded for review

I had a very good experience with Heritage Construccion & Roofing. From the beginning they took care of every detail that needed to be handled. I filed the insurance claim and once it was approved Heritage took care of all the rest, handled all paperwork and Permits required to perform the replacement of my roof. The whole process was a very smooth process . They addressed any concernes I had and every time I had questions and they were very helpful and polite. Brent M the sales representative visit the house on the installation day and made sure everything was getting done right and even made a a follow up call to make sure there weren't any concerns. The installation took only a day, and they made sure the surroundings were clean of any nails and any debris from the old roof. I love my new roof.
