Heritage Chimney

Had him inspect our existing chimney that was not used to see if it was safe for a wood stove He said the inside liner was cracked and we needed a new chimneyWe listened He built us a chimney for $in augest We lit a few small fires in September and I noticed a small crack on the exterior of the block I took a few photos and long story short he came out to look at it around the first of the year and said we had a chimney fire that caused the block to crack He then opened the clean out door and pointed and said the flue was cracked as well and the whole chimney needed to come down and be rebuilt He said till then it was safe to use but I needed it rebuilt before next winter I had two other chimney inspectors out and they said I did not have a chimney fire and that around the cracking the chimney bowed a bit that can be seen if looking down from the top One inspector cleaned the soot off the flue liner to show there was no crack One inspector said it was safe to use the other recommended a SS liner so that the heating and cooling wont affect the block as much Both other inspectors also said the old chimney would have worked with a SS liner and would have cost about lessIn a nut shell he talked us into something we didn't need built it poorly and tried blaming the defect on us Don't use him
