I was recommended to this company by a friend of mine in the Landscaping business. I was told that Hearthstone was a little higher priced than some other options, but you got every penny and then some. I am a first-time home buyer and had the typical anxiety that goes along with the process. I met with [redacted] about 30 minutes into the inspection. He had already been on the roof (With Snow!), in the garage, and was up in the attic. He talked me through the whole process of beginning, as far as all the paperwork and documents. He also had a little welcome-packet for me to take notes. I was a little nervous that I would be in the way, but [redacted] walked me from room to room and talked me through the whole process, even showing me some of the tools he used and whatnot. He was patient with me and exceptionally thorough. He did a fantastic job pointing out an irregularities and possible issues down the road, along with many of the positive sides of the house I was buyer. He was thorough in his recommendations and provided other resources should I need any work done. When we were finished, he gave me a binder with all sorts of information, including a "First Time Homeowners" book with various upkeep and maintenance items. This was a nice touch. The final report was a whopping 38 pages long with pictures, recommendations and notes. IMPRESSIVE! All in all, a FANTASTIC experience, and I will definitely recommend [redacted] and Hearthstone to anyone in the market.
Hearthstone home inspections jeopardized the sale of our home[redacted] scared the potential buyer in several ways. First of all, the important things buyers look for were satisfactory, this included the foundation, roof, heating and cooling, and windows. He pointed out things to the buyer he couldn't see or wasn't sure of. He accused us of having a rodent problem because we had poison in the cold air returns. As far as I know ANY home could get a mouse in it. If this poison was potentially hazardous she could have just removed it. It was only placed the in case of a possible pest not because there is an issue. Also accused of there being a nest, when in fact it was a piece of metal used as some sort of handle. He said we didn't have any carbon monoxide detectors when in reality we have two that are incorporated into the smoke detectors. He pointed out wood trim around the bathroom window that could possibly lead to upkeep, when it is plastic trim that has been sealed. He incorrectly stated that the microwave wasn't vented properly, it is an under cabinet mount style and doesn't require an outside vent. Also said the was no bathroom ventilation system when there is. There were also many minor imperfections he pointed out that would require little fixing that we would have been happy to do.
