Contracted Hearth & Sol to install a [redacted] gas stove, installation occurred Summer 2016. Hearth & Sol is an authorized dealer for the [redacted] stove brand. [redacted]'s website claims their dealers are trained and will aid the customer to ensure the stove is installed in a safe and legal manner. Immediately after installation occurred, the vent pipe began leaking rain water from the roof into the home, it was determined a caulk not approved for roofing applications was employed. It was also determined required building permits were not obtained from the local building department. Subsequent inspection by the building department and fire protection district revealed many construction defects, chief among them being flammable building materials in direct contact with the flue pipe in the attic space. This installation by Hearth & Sol was deficient and unsafe.
