Hawkins Home Loan Company, a licensed loan broker (DRE *** NMLS ***/***), refinanced my loan in a way that I lost my federal tax credit, the ***. Hawkins only disclosed to me that she lost the *** after it was too late for me to rescind the refinance transaction and then proceeded to blame the failure on COVID-19. Throughout the refinance process, I reminded Hawkins I wanted to do proceed with a refinance only if I could keep my *** because the federal tax credit was worth more than the lower interest rates on a new loan. Each time, Hawkins reassured me that it would happen. Hawkins deliberately misled me about the single most important thing about the refinance transaction. As a result of her actions, I am now out several thousand dollars in loan origination fees, appraisal fees, title fees, and other closing costs. In return, Hawkins got me a longer loan term, a larger loan balance, and I have lost my federal tax credit. I would never have agreed to this if Hawkins had conducted business with me in an honest way.
