Harrington's Signature Landscapes

Mr. Harrington was called to do some landscaping and yard maintenance. He came May 4 and wrote out a plan for the work and estimated costs for purchase of plants and labor. He requested $1600 up front and asked it be given to him in two checks, one for $500 and one for $1100. I complied and he was to return with his crew to do the work on May 7th and 8th, both good weather days. He did not come and later communicated that he was tied up finishing another job. I had told him I would be leaving town on May 11th for a week. When I returned I let him know I was back but the work was not done. It was necessary for me to be away again for a week in late June. I let him know the dates. He did not communicate with me and the work was not done. I asked him to return my deposit but that has not been done. I was away from mid July until the end of August so am filing this report now. Mr. Harrington has done work for me a number of years. He always requests a large initial deposit but then reliably returns and does the work promised, usually a very good job. I had no reason to think this year would be different.
