We were able to get ahold of the homeowner last week again to meet her at the property to try and understand what her concerns wereOur meeting took place on Friday 5/18/about 10:30am. We reviewed her concerns again and made an effort to remind her of our previous meeting, explain what is going on etcWe took photos with Mrs*** presentOur findings were that are no issues with the workmanship. The cause of the dripping at the overhang is caused by the barrel tile trim on the rake edge of the roof dripping water when it rains which runs along the bottom of the tile as is typical and drips off the end of the roof trim/ tile at the barge rafter endThe gutter stops short of the end of the roof and does not collect the water however the gutter existing is installed in typical fashion and was not installed by usThis type of dripping happens on any tile S tile roof and even some flat tile roofsIt has been happening since this home was builtThe reason it is likely more noticeable here is the way the crown and trough of the S tile meets the trimAlso, this area is above a sidewalk and is traversed frequentlyThere was no dry-rot visible which was a previous concern the homeowner mentioned in a previous messageThe area which was a concern had been missed when painted by the homeowners painter leaving a light area of primer that did not match the rest of the trim color and was catching her attentionThe gap she mentioned previously is a space between the rear vertical portion of the gutter and the shingle mold and fasciaIt is the same as on the opposite side of her home which we did not work onThe texture of the lumber is standard fascia purchased and per our repair paperwork cannot be guaranteed to match the original texture. From our various visits we have made efforts to address her concerns via a water test on the roof showing no leak, met with the homeowner on 5+ occasions with various members of our staff, repairman, etcin an effort to address her concerns and explain that the water dripping is coming from rain water that runs down the bottom of the tile trimWe have photos showing that our scope of work has been completed in a workman like manner and to tile Roof industry standardsThis concern was not something we contracted to addressThe photos taken last week with Mrs*** present are time stamped with dates showing we were thereWe also spoke with the homeowner yesterday 5/21/in an effort explaining all of this again and explained it would be best to take video as the concern seems to only be occurring during rainIt was explained that the video will show her and us clearly what is occurringShe seemed to understand. At this time there are no repairs to be made. We have taken these steps in good faith in an effort to help allay Mrs***’s concerns and to assist in understanding what’s taking place and that it’s not a warranty issue. The next time it rains we’ll see if video can resolve any remaining confusion
I received an email with regard to a complaint filedThis is the first we are aware of itWe did perform work for Ms*** and repaired a number of different areasWe expressed in our original quote we only provide pre-primed lumber and do not paintIt is homeowners responsibility to hire a
painter when work was completedWe also recommended having the corner where the rave fascia and barge fascia meet caulked and paintedThe client seems to have difficulty recalling details of phone calls and multiple visits from different staff explaining the same detailsWe performed water tests to show her the roof is not leaking but due to the design of her roof and type of tile/ way the tile was installed water pours over the edge of the tile trim and drips at the bottom of the gable cornerThis has to do with the original roof design and tile layout when the home was builtIt can only be corrected by reinstalling all the timeIf it was something repairable we would very happily do soHowever, we were hired to replace the dry-rot and did soIt is not a defect in replacement of the barge rafter/ fascia that is causing the issueWe understand this is difficult to understand but have main multiple visits and efforts to explainWe do not appear to have received any messages since our last site visit so this complaint is a surprise to us
