On July [redacted] my daughter and a friend had confirmed reservations on a Luxury Liner bus going into NYC. At their pick up stop the driver told them they were not on his manifest, the bus was completely booked. He did offer to drive them to the next stop in case a "really confirmed" passenger didn't show up.
Everyone showed up and the driver kicked my daughter, her friend and 8 other people off the bus and LEFT THEM THERE. They were effectively abandoned in Southampton despite having paid for confirmed seating.
I called the office to complain and was told that it was an IT problem and they talked to the IT department. Upon asking why the manager had not taken direct action to help its paid customers I was told that she was on vacation. No-one with any authority to do anything was available. This on the one of the busiest travel days of the year...very poor business.
I left my phone number for the manager to call me back. She did not. I called the next two days and left more messages but was never given the courtesy of a return phone all.
HamptonLuxury Liner felt it was more than enough that they did refund the tickets. I feel that is wholly inadequate. They breached their passenger carrier contract by just abandoning people they had double booked. What if someone didn't have money to get another bus? What if someone were 80 yrs old and not ready to scrabble for another ride?
At least a written apology and mea culpa to every one of the passengers who as kicked off, or a few free rides - anything to acknowledge that what they did was not just morally/ethically wrong but was, in fact, a breach of contract.
Very disrespectful of their paying customers.
