I would heartily recommend Hall Brothers Corning Mortuary. My experience with them was positive and uplifting. When my son passed away, they arranged for his
transport from another state, they arranged for everything our family needed to be
sure he was cared for in a caring and professional manner. Our family was put at
ease in a stressful and heart wrenching situation. The kindness and the professionalism we were afforded went above and beyond the call of duty. We
could not have asked for anything more as they literally gave their best in our
behalf.
HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE!! The director was extremely uncaring! He was all about the money! My daughter-in-law asked him about payments and he ignored the question. Needless to say, we were very upset and didn't think to pursue an answer. He (the director) told me (Mom) that my son's wife will have to sign the paperwork. After he realized my daughter-in-law didn't have any money, he turned to me to sign the papers. He thought we had money even though we told him repeatedly that we did not. He wanted ALL of the money up front and refused to do anything until he was paid. There was no insurance, only a go fund me acct with $465 in it (minus fees = about $400). The Sheriff's Coroner was no help, he said we didn't qualify for the indigent program because I (mom) have a job & that it's a crime not to do anything. My son's wife is on disability. I kept calling the funeral director and he finally agreed to half down ($900) but I only had $400 so he still wouldn't do anything. I called the Sheriff's Coroner again & he told me that he talked to the funeral director who said he would take $500 down. I called the funeral director back & the funeral director told me $900 down and that they are a business and they have bills too (in a very rude tone of voice)! I just couldn't talk to this very rude uncaring person anymore and I hung up on him! I am not stupid, I realize that it takes $ to run a business. I could've given him the $400 and made payments but he insisted on $900 down. My daughter-in-law dealt with the funeral director after that. I gave my daughter-in-law the $400 and she got donations and a loan from her church. One of the ladies from my daughter-in-law's church went and talked to the funeral director and got him to reduce the bill to $900 total instead of $1625 plus the urn. (He was still trying to add costs, even though I found out later that we did not have to buy an urn from the funeral home!)
