Halifax Paving

William S of Halifax Paving gave us a non-written quote last week to pave a section of our driveway. My husband called on Saturday to ask how soon they could come. He got a call back at 7 am on the following Monday morning that they could come today.
So naturally as protection for ourselves, I asked my husband what type of questions he asked, such as “company and employees insured, how much crusher dust and how thick the asphalt is, along with a written quote”, to which he said “no, they’ve been in business 40 years”.
I called W Smith right back myself and he was surprised and upset that I asked if they were insured. He said I’m the first person to ever ask such a thing for a residential driveway, but yes assured me they were insured. When I asked him for a picture or for them to bring a photocopy showing proof of WCB insurance, he said something to the effect of, “NO, it’s only a $2000. driveway, go get someone else to give you a quote as good as mine.” I will thanks.

Driveway not paved properly. One day after they left I have weeds pushing up through my newly paved driveway. They don’t return calls. When I did my driveway the receipt showed Halifax paving. A neighbour across the street had his done by the same company and his receipt showed Empire Paving. I tried to contact them but they won’t return my calls. The base wasn’t properly prepared and the thickness of the pavement was not three inches as stipulated on the contract.
