I scheduled an appointment for April 10th, 2020 with Hair By Sarabella on Feb 26th, 2020. At the time I made the appointment I found the cancellation policy stated that cancellation had be to 48 hours prior to the appoint to receive a refund. That was posted to her instagram 43 weeks prior to making my appointment. On March 11th I was advised by my Doctor that due to the COVID-19 outbreak and the fact that I am an asthmatic that I am at a high risk for critical if not lethal reactions to this virus that I need to cancel all appointment in the public and stay home and only leave when absolutely required. On March 12th 2020 I informed Sara H (Owner) via text that I would need to cancel the appoint on April 10th 2020 which was almost 30 days in advance of my appointment, and explained that due to this NATIONAL EMERGENCY I would need to cancel. Sara H (Owner) advised that she would cancel the appointment. When I inquired about my $75 deposit Sara H replied that I had fore-fitted it and I would not get it back. She then went on her site removed the Current cancellation policy and updated it to stated that refunds are non refundable. (Please See Attachments) She then blocked me from contacting her and as of March 13th, 2020 Sara H has removed the non-refundable deposit policy from her site. This is further proof that Sara H has breached her contract with me.
Sara then responding to my complaint stating that all I wanted was my MONEY back. But I gave her the deposit a month in advance. If it was only about the money why would I have given her the deposit a month in advance. I had to cancel this appointment Due to the COVID-19 pandemic I have a letter from my Doctor as I am high risk. Sara has also since closed her business because of the COVID-19 Pandemic. You can look at the photos attached to the complaint and see that she changed the Deposit policy after I requested my money back. You can even see in the screenshots Sara attached that NOT 1 time does she mention NON-Refundable deposit. Sara is taking advantage of People from the COVID-19 Pandemic, and stealing hard earned money from innocent people.
Sara also stated in her response that I was a Bully and I was making fun of her " boyfriends" medical condition. This was the first time I was going to Sara HOW WOULD I KNOW OF HER BOYFRIENDS MEDICAL CONDITION - Sara is a liar and looking for sympathy .Since she took my money during a PANDEMIC!!!!! I have all texts , massages and her post to show proof of her lying deceitful act. Sara is also claiming that she had to book out the whole day thats why she wouldn't give back my deposit.
1. She has since closed with no re-open in sight and would have had to change the appointment.
2. I canceled 30 days in advance (any good hair dresser can re-book that time easily)
3. In SARAs OWN cancellation policy she stated you can cancel up to 48 Hours before your appointment.
4. Sara changed her policy after I requested my refund. (I have proof)
5. Not once during the time we were setting up the appointment did she say my deposit was non-refundable.
The bottom line is that SARA knows that she is a con-artist. I would have happily gone to Sara if not for this COVID-19 pandemic. She knew that this Pandemic was going to get bad and has now taken everyone's deposits to live off of. If she was a reputable person she would have given back peoples money. But she is a thief and a con-artist. Avoid this person at all costs, or it will cost you.

I am contesting this because this client made the conscious decision to make an appointment that required a deposit to do so. This said appointment required me to book out my entire day for her color goal. Appointments that I book out my entire day, I require a nonrefundable deposit of $75. This is a different appointment than color the screenshot of this cancellation policy that she has shown. That is for standard appointments. Her color goal was a much more difficult demographic in which like I said, I book out my entire day for. Initially, she said that she wanted to cancel her appointment. Being how it’s a nonrefundable deposit, I asked her if she would like to reschedule. She said that she did but she didn’t want to cancel again, so not at this time. I explained to her that my deposit again is nonrefundable but because of this situation I would roll that deposit into her appointment whenever that would be whether that is next week next month. Which is something that u don’t do. You cancel your appt, you forfeit your deposit. That’s how deposits work. She wasn’t interested in me rolling over the deposit at all she just wanted her money back which I knew that’s what she wanted all along. Since then, I have had to block her due to her throwing out accusations of me stealing from her etc. Since then, she had her husband and God knows who else have been on my business Instagram page leaving comments with these random made up accounts slandering me personally and my boyfriend which has a medical condition. I have had to turn off my comments on my business page 2 separate times in which I have to permanently leave off commenting from people that do not follow me. All of these comments are slanderous and way below the belt. This is abuse and this person is a bully. I am not trying to steal anything from her I am still offering that service, she just wants her money back. What she doesn’t understand about a deposit is that a deposit is to secure your time with that artist. I personally have to leave deposits with two different artists that I see. This is how deposits work. If you’re not serious about keeping an appointment, you do not make one that requires A deposit. In the over a decade I’ve been working I’ve never had anything close to this issue before and I will not let this person that is on obvious a bully, bully me out of what I do. I will provide all screenshots of our entire conversation as well as screenshots of the slanderous comments made on my business page on Instagram.
