I leased a station at Hair Therapy Salon for two years. I always paid my monthly rent on time and I fulfilled my part of the lease agreement. My last day of the lease was January 3rd,2020. I cleaned every nook and cranny up down and around it, I also took pictures of it as well. The owner (Lani F) told me she would see about getting my deposit to me. In our contract it says she has up to 30 days. Today’s date is February 18th,2020. She’s had well over 30 days and I’ve received nothing. Not even a text stating the issue. There is no reason for her to keep my deposit other than greed. I left because I was not happy there. Myself being a former salon owner for 18 years, didn’t like how she ran her shop.
Unfortunately, *** was let go due to numerous reasons, the main reason being, she wasn't a good fit for the salon towards the end of her employment. Items for the salon came up missing, she was mistreating clients and being unprofessional. The last straw was her lack of timeliness leading to a loss of a regular client of the salon. At the termination of her contract, she successfully cleaned her station and brought it back to its original state. We parted on good terms and she mentioned she would come back to visit sometime. She never reached out about her deposit refund and although it isn't an excuse, with the covid disrupting the flow of the business, She did not receive her deposit in the allotted time. I mailed the deposit check and have a receipt of it being shipped to her address if needed.
This is all false. I’m not an employee, I’m an independent contractor. I brought my own clients with me. I’ve had my own salon prior for 18 years. I’ve never stolen from her. Let her hang art I owned on her bare walls of the salon and even still left my color processor that she is still using cause I was going to buy a more updated one. I was owed that deposit within 30 days of January 3,2020 which is the last day of my contract.. It’s now March 22,2020 and tries to blame the covid-19 why she was forgetful. That doesn’t make any sense why she would forget. She had 60 days prior. Hopefully the check is in the mail tomorrow. I now work with other contractors she had that left weeks after me. They also were not happy and will soon be making a complaint as well. I wouldn’t have left if I was happy. I just wanted my deposit back since I was the first and only one to fulfill my contract with her.
