Review: A representative of HME Repair picked up 3 electric scooters at the Henry Ford West Bloomfield Hospital in January, 2013. I am the person in charge of Security and Parking Services at HF WBH. An estimate (quote) to repair these 3 scooters was transmitted on 1/23/13 and the quote for repair was accepted. Since approximately mid-February 2013, numerous phone calls have been made to HME Repair at the phone number provided. Most of the calls resulted in voicemails left by me or my sergeant. I have spoken with "[redacted] several times, most recently 4/25/13. She said that the owner would return my call. He never did. On 4/8/13, I did speak with a male that stated he was the owner and he apologized profusely for not having the scooters repaired, blaming Chinese parts for the scooters being "held" at the shipping port. He promised that the hospital's scooters would be "first in line" and should be repaired withing one week of this call (4/8/13). I heard nothing until I finally spoke with [redacted] on 4/25. On 4/26/13, having heard nothing back from the "owner", I left 6 separate voicemails at the business number. Finally, after not receiving any return phone calls, I drove to the address listed for the business, [redacted]. This is a small industrial park and I did find a sign for HME Repair at the adress given. I called the business phone number while standing outside the locked door (at 3:30P--the business hours are listed as 9A-5P, M-F). I could not hear a phone ringing within the office space. I then looked through the tinted glass and observed no furniture, no desk or chairs, nothing. I drove to the back of the business and could see a large overhead door, closed and locked. There were no vehicles parked behind the business.Desired Settlement: As of now, I don't even know if the 3 electric scooters are inside of the business. Obviously, I would have liked the vehicles to be repaired--our patients depend on them. But, even if not repaired, I need to get these back. The replacement cost on each scooter is between $3,500 and $4,000, depending on the model.
