Hello Revdex.com, One more time I will say, on the website it does state "2013 Rates" and it also states " Prices Subject To Change". This is 2015. Is this really so hard to understand? Hello Revdex.com,In response to this complaint , on the website it does state, "2013 Rates" . If you click on the top portion of the page where it says rates , again a rate sheet will come up and again it will still in print about 3x larger than the Revdex.com Rating state "2013...
Rates". This is 2015 ! Our rates have not changed since 2009 however the same discounts may not apply. You will also find in the lower left hand corner on our rate sheet it says "Rates Subject to Change".[redacted] also said that I could not give a finalized total and threw out $660 for a deposit number. While I spoke with her on the phone I was putting numbers together and when I gave her the $660 number I explained that this would be the approximate deposit on the cabin but I did not figure the cost of the dogs, boat or tax because we often find that people change their minds and either add extras or decide to leave their pets home so to calculate it exact, did not make sense. The exact deposit is $656.57+$65.65 tax for a total of $722.22. This deposit still does not reflect docking or pet fees. The 5% military discount will be figured at check -in when we see a military card. To calculate their bill exact cannot be done in seconds while talking on a phone. I do not understand why this has become a problem, I have asked her if there were questions to phone and I would explain. To make things more simple, if she would prefer to cancel her reservation, that can be done. ...⇄ Thank You, [redacted]

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
We did review [redacted]'s response and already listed out the pricing that he figured out the same . He will not honor what is on his own website. We are still going to keep our reservation. We were not asking for an additional 10%, it was a 10% total (which would have been an additional 5%)as this is what it lists on his website. There is no resolve on this because he will not honor what is on his website. We want him to update his website then at the least. It shows a discount that he will not honor. Anyone going on his website would see the same thing and he refuses to recognize it. We also want to know why the tax is 10% if the state tax is 5.6%? We will have fun regardless because this will be our family time, but it's disappointing to know what is clearly in print does not matter to him. Military discount is generally never a listed discount, [redacted] asked because you generally always need to ask if it is offered as a business won't volunteer to give you more off, even if you qualify.

Review: My family rented a cottage on the island at A1 Gypsy Villa on Cranberry Lake for 3 nights 7/27-7/30/13. The 3 bedroom cottage included a pontoon boat for the three days we signed up for. The price was 1469.00 plus tax. Their website advertised hot tub / sauna/ WI-FI / beach / Rec room / scheduled activities, etc. Upon arriving at the cottage we realized the hot tub was not filled/working and has not for quite some time. There were stacks of chairs, table, a crib, and other items stacked up all around the hot tub in the room. We never saw a sauna room. There was no Wi-Fi available at all. With 4 teenagers along whom we promised Wi-Fi this made for a long 3 nights. The rec room was filthy, with games from the 1970s that I am not sure even worked, and dead bugs all over. The beach was grass covered with a slide in the lake that was on cinder blocks with AT LEAST a 3 foot drop off into 1-1/2 feet of water. I think a state investigator should check on this for a safety violation. We never heard or saw any scheduled activities occur on the island. The beds in the cottage were wood bases attached to the floor with [redacted] carpet on top and a mattress. Not a very comfortable sleep for any one. Especially not something one would expect when paying $1400 for 3 nights. Luckily we did bring an air mattress and some lucky ones got to sleep on that.
At check-in for our cottage including pontoon boat, we were told we needed to purchase gas for $63 from them in order to use the boat. How can they include a boat to take you to an island with no gas? This is something that SHOULD have been on their website so we could either bring our own or be prepared for the additional charge.
The weather upon arriving was a cool 50 degrees with a forecast of another day of very cold weather with nights down in the 40s (yes July in Wisconsin). On the morning of our second day we discovered the heat had not been working, nor the oven (which I already had breakfast in) because the cottage ran out of fuel. Very poor for the management not to check the two tanks connected to the cottage knowing it was very cold. Also on the second day of our trip the boat did not work. There was something wrong with the engine and did not have a replacement boat until late morning.
My family takes one vacation a year to a cottage in northern Wisconsin for the last 16 years. This is by far the most expensive and worst place we have ever stayed at. Very disappointed that we spent so much money only to feel we were taken by false advertising.Desired Settlement: We would like a partial refund of the cost of this cottage rental and a half day boat rental refund of at least $400 because their advertising certainly did not match what was actually offered

Response:
Dear [redacted],
This letter is in regard to a complaint filed by [redacted] and [redacted].
I
To begin - During the time they were here, they had no complain, in regard to the
cabin or questions in regard to any of their present complaints most of which are
untrue.
We have WI FI 24 hours per day available at the resort - but they never asked or
found out where it was available. Our recreation room is large and is available to our
guests 24 hours per day and it contains a standard pool table, and many games - yes
that are some what antique, which many of our guests tell us they enjoy - these games only
take a quarter as does the Juke Box.
They have been of interest to our guests for many years. There is a sitting area there
plus windows across the entire front of the building with a lovely view of the woods
and the tennis court, volley ball court, swings, etc. The room measures 40 x 48 and it is
cleaned regularly. If a guest leaves the screen door open at night with the lights on,
occasionally a few bugs will fly in. However, it is not full of bugs.It is cleaned
regularly.
We have never had a complaint about the recreation room before, but many
compliments.
The [redacted]s were only here 3 nights - our activities start after the weekend as most of
our people come in on the weekend. [redacted]s were here Sat, Sun. and Mon. By
Tuesday we are into activities - depending how many guests sign up. We have found it
takes most people the weekend to settle down and then there is interest shown in
activities. There are 450 movies available free at the office in case of bad weather. On
arrival they receive a list of places to go in the area. :
There are scheduled free trips to and from the island - clearly posted in the office and
in the information manual in each cottage. It takes only 5 minutes to get to the island
by pontoon boat
In regard to the gasoline - they should know that a boat takes gas and that does not
come free. If you rent a car the gas does not come free! We do refund the second tank
of gas if it hasn't been tapped. The amount they paid was not too ,much when you
consider it included a 24ft pontoon boat for 3 nights (4 days) and instructions for two
persons.
When we received the call that they had no heat, someone was there in less than one
half hour. It was still warm in the house. We found that someone had changed the
setting on the gas tanks showing them full instead of empty. New tanks were
connected immediately , and the gas range pilots were relit as well as the hot water tank.
(which by the way still had hot water in it so they were out of gas for a very brief time
about 1/2 to 2/4 hour.
At this point I might also mention, that the cabin also has a fireplace, a micro wave, an
electric coffee maker, an electric crock pot, toaster, etc. and the electric was never off.
The Pontoon boat that they had was in excellent shape when it was delivered but when
they called and said it would not start, they were taken care of immediately and were
given another boat right away. They did not lose any boat time to speak of.
We gave him the benefit of the doubt as to whether he caused it or not he was worried
that he had done something wrong and asked [redacted] about it
We have many guests request this cabin year after year. We have good innerspring
mattresses and the living room has a queen hideabed with an excellent mattress.
With so many complaints - why did they not contact us at any time? When [redacted] was
over there to relight the gas range and hot water heater why was nothing said? He
thought it strange that 2 persons were laying on the floor in the living room watching
TV on the so called blown up mattress when there was a petfectly good hideabed in the
the living room. The hot tub is closed due to new State regulations. The Sauna can be
made available by request (But they never asked about anything.)
Originally the [redacted]s reserved 2 weeks. They put it on their credit card. (July 27 -
Aug.13th. Sometime later he called in and cancelled it and reserved for 3 nights -said
he couldn't afford 2 weeks. I refunded his entire downpayment and he put a
downpayment on 3 nights. In the meantime I had turned down other people who had
requested #6.
The [redacted]s never complained while here. [redacted] showed them how to filet fish as they
were not doing so well filleting. They fished off their own pier and took advantage of
our service pier and another on #7 which was not occupied until a few days later.
If they were so dissatisfied why did they not talk to us? They left without checking out
at the office at about 5 minutes to 10 AM which was the time they were supposed to be
out - so they stayed every minute. The office was open - I saw them leave.
They did have bad luck with the weather - the day of their arrival was pretty good but
the weekend was cold for July. We do not control the weather.
If that cottage was not to their liking - we might have found one they would prefer actually
there are many repeats in #6. The [redacted]s showed no signs of disliking their
stay. We are available from 8am to 10:00 Pm by phone every day! - and the office is
open from 10 A.M. to 5 Pm and most times until 10 P.M. cellphones work well and they
did get us by cellphone when they wanted something.
I am enclosing some comments from persons that were here approximately the same
week they were - most had a week, though. Also will enclose the comments from the
party that stayed in #6 the week before the [redacted]s did. (We have a guest book in the
office that many people sign with their comments.
If you have any questions feel free to write or phone.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
First of all, we did not rent the cottage for 2 weeks. That was an error on their part. We would never rent a cottage for two weeks because it would take half our vaction and when I called back, not my husband, I DID NOT say I couldn't afford it I said I wouldn't spend that much on a cottage. She admitted the error and changed our reservation without charge. Never mentioned anyone else wanting the cottage. My husband made an error in reading the weekly peak season charges vs. off season charges whic is probably a common mistake. We have been renting cottages for 18 years and I am sure we are not the only ones that have made that error.
Secondly, I did come in to the office and check out on our last day. I was the only one in the family that wanted to enter that office again because it is so cluttered with junk and papers it is not a pleasant place to be in. I felt like I was on the TV show Hoarders it was so bad. The woman behind the counter was eating when I walked in. I didn't say anything because I had just come across the water on a boat in the rain and was in no mood to talk to anyone. In hindsight I should have spoken my mind, I just really did not want to be in there one second longer than I had to.
As far as the hot tub, if it has been out of service and they know it is out of service it really should be taken off their website. That was one of the reasons we chose the place because if the weather was awful, like it was, we thought the kids could warm up in there. And wi-fi, there is no service on the island. With three different cellphone providers and other electronics there was no wi-fi available. If it wasn't available on the island, and only on the mainland, that should be mentioned on the website as well.
Heat was out for much longer than 1/2 - 1 hour. After checking my breakfast in the oven after 1 hour and one cold shower we realized that was what has happening. It did get fixed quickly, however with the cold weather we had had, I would have thought one of the two tanks would have been full prior to our arrival. The blowup mattress we brought was because we did not know what to expect with the beds. Good thing we did because at least one of us had a comfortable sleep. VHS tapes, yes we saw the list. Not sure when VHS tapes were discontinued but the list was quite old and really nothing to interest teenagers. Everything about this "resort" is so outdated. I think it could be a nice place if someone would get it out of the 1970s.
We are not the only ones with these complaints. After doing a little research, I have found many complaints regarding the same issues we had going back to 2006. Completely unacceptable to continue to advertise ammenties that are so outdated or out of service for so long. One would think after 7 years they would have fixed some of these instead of advertising and charging like it is a really great place.

Business

Thank you for allowing me to comment on the letter from [redacted].
Review: My family had reserved a cabin through this place on 2/6/15. At the time, [redacted] was unable to give a privce over the phone and said he would calculate the bill. We also asked if they had military discounts, which [redacted] said he would give 5% off the total price and took a deposit of $660 to reserve the cabin. When looking at their website again so we could calculate it for ourselves, it states under rates that they give a "10% discount if reserved priorto March". We emailed [redacted] at the email listed and his response was " If you look at the year on the rate sheet you will see it is several years old. We have not increased our rates since 2009. The 10% discount would only be applicable if the reservation was made before March of 2013. If you have any questions about it please phone 715-479-8644---------------" We then responded and told them this was on their website and that there is no year listed. He then sent back " If you look on the right side of the page there is a picture of the tennis court, above it is the Revdex.com Rating, above that you will see in red print " Wi Fi included", directly above that in yellow print "2013 Rates". The "2013 Rates" is in print about 3x larger than the date on the Revdex.com Rating. If you feel this is wrong I apologize--------". I am clicking the top portion of the page where it says rates, not 2013 rates. It appears they are the same. He also told me they had not changed their rates since 2009, so it would then again seem that they have been offering 10% off since then if booking prior to march. He also said he could not give us a finalized total and would come up with it and just threw out $660.00 for a deposit as a number.Desired Settlement: We want what they advertise. For our specific circumstance we are staying 7 nights, 8 days. Per their website, the rate for a week in #14 cabin from august 30th-september 6th is $1149.00+1 day(164.14)+$35.00 for docking fee(we are bringing a boat and 2 dogs over 30 lbs.($12*2=$24*7days=$168). So it should be $1149.00+$164.14+$35.00+$168.00=$1516.14-10% discount($151.61)=$1364.53
