We bought a 2014 Tiguan from the dealership with 14,800+ miles on it. This was a dealer-owned car and had been in their possession since 2014. When we discovered the tires had dry rotted and needed to be replaced, the dealership gave us the runaround for over 2 months, and then refused. We had traveled out of state when the damage was discovered and could not make the 700-mile drive back on the dangerous tires. We had 2 mechanics and a tire dealer tell us the tires were dangerous to drive on. We took pictures and got signed documents from the tire dealer attesting to the danger and the damage. When the general manager did finally connect with us, he refused to say it was their fault or that they would reimburse us. He even admitted that the damage happened while the car was under their ownership. He finally offered a meager $100 worth of service as their form of reimbursement for us having to purchase and replace all 4 tires. The staff were incredibly unhelpful. I would advise any and all who are looking for a Volkswagen to go anywhere else. If something goes wrong, they will not help.
Never Disclosed Diagnostic fee online or verbally!!??? My husband and I submitted a request for possible maintenance on our 2013 VW Passat through their online portal. There were no written agreement that there was a $150 fee to look at the car. We dropped off car that night and placed our key in the key drop. They called twice, and never disclosed a $150 diagnostic fee for our vehicle verbally either. We picked up car next day and paid the cashier for the oil change that we had completed and was blindsided with when the $150 was snuck in there as well. No one at site was there to waive the fee. Called next day, and this is where it gets interesting, the service department manager at this location was uneducated and basically danced around the fact that the fee, that was never told to us via writing or verbally, was to be paid and he declined the refund after getting back to me a day later than he said he would. I was then passed over to Mr. , the store manager, who told me he would refund the fee and to give them my debit card # so he could do so. Only to call back an hour and a half later and tell me , he made a mistake. He thought I was someone else, and he would not be giving back the fee due to me not asking them if there was one!? They should be ashamed on how they handled their customer service, if they would have sympathized and didn't shift the blame onto me, and tell me they were refunding it to turn around and tell me they then were not. This might have gone a different way. Very poor service in this regard.

Fake prices, Lies, Deception and a Scam
All prices a fake, just a lure to get you to come in
All cars have a phony "ceramic protection package" for $1,799.00

They will try to scam you out of at least $3,000.00
Just wait until you meet the sleazy manager, its such a bad experience you might think its a prank.
Do yourself a favor and avoid...a complete waste of time
very dishonest dealer gives you a price for a vehicle and you agreed and everything upon signing the contract they put another price

I took my Jetta in for a routine oil change this past weekend The mechanic broke the oil dipstick in the process of changing the oil Aaron, the Service Manager then denied that the mechanic broke the dipstick I was then told it would cost me $to have them replace the broken dipstick that they brokeAfter posting a negative review on ***, I was contacted by a representative at the dealer asking me to reach out to him over the phone or by email because he would like to learn more about my visit I called him twice and left messages both times which no one returned my phone calls In addition, I emailed him times, times of which he responded saying that he would call me by a specific time and he did not follow throughGurnee Volkswagen has demonstrated that they do not value their customers and they could care less about customer satisfaction Part of my wonders if they broke a part of my vehicle on purpose just to get more money out of meTo anyone reading this review, I strongly suggest you give your business to any dealer other than the Gurnee Volkswagen
We had purchased a car in August of 2015, for my daughter to use for workAll the paper work was filled out, we did everything that was neededWe were notified that we would be receiving the plate for the car in October of We never received the plate or the loanThey then promised us that if we were not happy with the car we would be able to take it back, and they would take care of the situationSince then nothing has been taken care ofAfter we signed the papers they began giving us the run around, and the lying continued
You may notice that Bob *** VW prices are much better than other VW dealers online. That is because they are fake. If you go in they tell you the only way to get that price is if you qualify for all insensitives which is pretty much impossible. They won’t tell you this over the phone. I ended up getting sucked into a 4 hour deal with them where Sandy finally offered $1,000 over thier online price. I took it and was then sent to Stephen in finance. All of a sudden the numbers got switched back and Stephen insisted that the “sale price” was after taxes and fees. Like an i
t I signed a bunch of paperwork, trying to get out of there and didn’t realize until I got my financing paperwork that they rewrote the deal right before I signed at the sticker price. When I realized this when my loan paperwork came in the mail and stared me in the face I called Stephen, he told me I would have to talk to my salesman Sandy ***. I went in to talk to him and he blamed it back on Stephen, then said Stephen was busy working another deal for a long time and got manager James ***. James couldn’t explain the numbers either and said even though the numbers don’t make sense, the deal was signed and the month before when I signed, the place was under different management and has since cleaned house and has a whole new team now that cannot go back on deals from the previous team. It so happens that my salesman Sandy, Chris, the sales manager when I purchased, and Stephen in finance...the only 3 people I dealt with, are still there. Total sleazy car dealership experience.
Beyond the worst sales experience I have ever had, part of the deal was they would powdercoat the wheels of my new atlas black. They did but they looked like someone did a decent job with a black can of rustolium spray paint. The foot opener on the back gate worked intermittently so I asked to have that looked at. Service of course said it was fine. Upon picking it up and seeing the rough wheel work I tried the foot opener...nothing, and asked Eric in service to try it. He had no luck either. Eric was curtious and took the car back to fix the wheels and hopefully the foot sensor this time.
Having spoken with my Service Director, he informed me Mr [redacted] initially contacted the tire manufacturer stating he had bad tires and wanted them replaced. The tire manufacturer stated there wasn't any evidence that the tires were bad nor there was any manufacturer defects and told him they...
would not replace them. He then came to our service department and stated his tires were loud and cupped. On Dec 02,2016, Mr [redacted] had his tires rotated and his rear tires were worn greater than the fronts so, that will create a noise. Mr [redacted] attempted to state it was a suspension problem however, Volkswagen said there was nothing wrong with the vehicles suspension. Also, the CC comes with performance tires which tend to wear faster than regular tires. As much as we would like to assist Mr [redacted], it truly is a wear and tear issue not covered by any of his warranties.
I took my [redacted] in for a routine oil change 2 weeks ago. The mechanic broke the oil dipstick in the process of changing the oil. Aaron, the Service Manager then denied that the mechanic broke the dipstick. I was then told it would cost me $180 to have them replace the broken dipstick that they broke.
I bought the [redacted] from the Gurnee VW and have previously taken it back for routine service. Due to my poor review that I wrote about the dealer on [redacted], a guy named Miguel [redacted] who has also been named in other responses below reached out to me on [redacted] asking me to contact him. Like the other comments on [redacted] here, he is a less than respectable individual. I called him twice and left messages both times which no one returned my phone calls. In addition, I emailed him 3 times, 2 times of which he responded saying that he would call me by a specific time and he did not follow through.
Gurnee Volkswagen has demonstrated that they do not value their customers and could care less about customer satisfaction. Part of my wonders if they broke a part of my vehicle on purpose just to get more money out of me.
Anyone reading this, please give your business to anywhere other than the Gurnee Volkswagen, do not get yourself mixed up with these people.

(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)
This is untrue. I did not give permission nor would they have a signed release that I granted them permission to run my credit. I was never willing to finance outside of my credit union. The salesman was asking me for my information; I asked him if he needed to know all that to drive the car he replied yes. After this incident I was at another dealer & I had to sign a release to have my credit checked. This did not occur at Gurnee VW. Please offer documentation of permission. These people too advantage of me &I'm sure they are doing it to others.
