On June 16th, Mr*** brought their Ford F-pickup in withwhat they thought were transmission issue, as his transmission wasslippingAn initial work order was created by employee, KathyS***, with the simple instruction of "Diagnose Transmissionissue"I, Ricky ** G***, owner of
Grumpy's Performance Center, entered the office and engaged in a conversation with Mr***, inmore detail, as a torque converter problem can presents symptomsthat would lead the average consumer to assume they were havingtransmission issue insteadI explained to Mr***, that either way, whether it was a torque converter or/and the transmission, one or theother would need to be replaced/repaired to eliminate the issues hewas experiencingMr*** agreed at this point (Ms S*was a witness to this conversation ) that the transmission would haveto be dropped to adequately confirm if it was the torque converteralone, or a combination of torque converter and transmissionI toldhim I would call him with our findings
I called Mr*** on the telephone, and discussed the options andcost with himThe fluids in the torque converter were burnt, the frontseal was leakingI told him that I was afraid if we just repaired thetorque converter at this time, we would be right back into the truckwith a transmission replacementI quoted him time and material todo the whole transmission and torque converter(Qr*** said thathe would have to think about it, as he did not think he could afford therepairs at this time. The next call I received was from Mrs***, who had not been partyto either prior conversation with Mr***She was irate, accusingus of performing work that was not authorized and that we were tooexpensiveShe said she had check around, and she wanted to havethe vehicle pulled from our facility and taken to anotherI told herthat we had performed hours of labor on the truck@ $95/hour,which is our shop rate for trucksFor a total of $447.50, which wasdue and payable at the time she retrieved to truckShe said she didwant us to perform any more work on the truck and to just put theparts in a box in the truckbedMrs*** came to our facility, paidfor the work performed to date and had the vehicle towed away toanother facility to have the transmission replaced
Respectfully,
Ricky ** G***
