Grove Transit transported my father from one facility to another on Monday, March 4. (sidenote: We have used Grove Transit in the past without any problems). Upon arrival at ***, the Director of Admissions noticed the Grove employee pulling my father's wheelchair backwards down the hallway. She went out to ask where he needed to go and to correct him regarding pulling the wheelchair backwards. She asked the worker to put my father's feet up on the footrests. Once the wound care nurse assessed my father shortly after his arrival, she noted 3 of his toes had superficial wounds (skin peeled back and bleeding) on the tops and the large toe had a deeper wound that required antibiotic & bandage. The wounds were obviously fresh because they were bleeding. The nurse at the nurses' desk stated she witnessed my father's feet being dragged from the wheelchair when they passed by. Obviously, the driver did not heed the advice of the Admissions Director and did not care what happened to the patient during transport. I went to the company to inquire about the incident the same day. The owner, ***, listened to my complaint. He looked on his computer to see which driver was in charge of the transfer & stated the driver had a good record with no complaints. I stated that I was complaining about him. The owner never offered an apology and did not offer to look into the incident. I have spoken with the Admissions Director at the facility & they do have cameras. I have not asked for footage of the incident yet but will if necessary. My father is 92 years old and has Alzheimer's. Therefore, he cannot speak for himself if something happens. I am is voice. My siblings & I are upset at the lack of compassion from both the driver & the owner for an elderly patient and cannot imagine what would have happened if his feet had been dragged on the asphalt through a parking lot instead of door-to-door in facilities.
