On the day that Mrs. [redacted] called in and said...
that she had a belt come off, we sent a service technician out to look at it. Technician reinstalled the belt correctly, because customer tried to install, but had it installed incorrectly. Technician mowed to verify machine performance and unit worked as it should. Technician also said that the grass mowed was "very" tall and had sticks and twigs in it which can and will cause belts to be thrown off. Service writer called Mrs. [redacted] about the service call fee and Mrs. [redacted] was upset about being charged for reinstalling their belt. The service charge was waived to keep customer satisfied.
Customer called back on June 2nd. and said that they had another John Deere dealer come out to install the same belt. Dealer told them that it had the wrong belt installed. I asked her if they could bring in the belt in question so we could verify that it was correct. Mr. [redacted] brought in the old belt the following day. We then got another brand new belt to compare and they were identical in length and width. Also looked up part number to verify that it is the correct one for this machine.
We told them that we were sorry for the problem. We gave them another new belt to take back to the other dealer to get their money back on the belt. But the belt installed was the correct one! Mr. [redacted] was satisfied with that solution. Mrs. [redacted] called in later
and was not satisfied with giving them a new belt and said that she wont do business with us in the future, because she was told by another dealer that the belt we installed was too long and didn't believe that we installed the correct one.
Mr. and Mrs. [redacted] "did" get the correct belt!
The correct belt part number is GX21833.

As I read their response I do not see where they are trying to solve this problem at all. When my husband took the old belt in he told them then he was unhappy with just getting another belt to take back to the other company that we had to buy and get our money back. They would do nothing else for him and sent him home and that is when I called them. My husband was never happy with these results and he told them that. They are lying when they say that. If they didn't think they were in the wrong the first time they would of never gave him another belt to take and get his money back from the other company, this just shows that they knew the belt was the wrong size. I can't believe they would expect me to spend all this gas money running back and forth. We have spent a lot of money to have our mower serviced by them, now my husband is questioning if they done all the other stuff we paid to have done. $400.00 is a lot to have a mower break they first time we use after a service they provided!
