Customer called us on Sunday 1/14/for service but did not want to pay the weekend rates for emergency services, so he scheduled the following day (Monday 1/15/18) during business hoursOur diagnostic rate is always disclosed when appointments are made (which is why the customer chose to
wait until the next day for an appointment during business hours at our standard rate)He explained to us that WE Energies came to his home and that they identified a gas leak in his home(When WE energies notes gas leaks it is typically on the gas line itself, not on the actual heating system) Upon our arrival on 1/15/18, the customer indicated where WE energies mentioned the gas leak wasThere was no documentation provided by the customer or marked by WE Energies to indicate the location of the leak that was foundThe customer pointed to the on/off knob on the gas valve We found that the customer’s cast iron boiler had a leaking mechanical gas valve, which needed to be replacedYou cannot “fix” the knob, the entire gas valve must be replacedWe were prepared to make repairs to the gas line, which was the assumption that was made when we were informed that WE Energies noted a gas leakAs an HVAC company, we do our best to stock parts, but it is virtually impossible to carry every part for every type of systemIn some cases, we must order parts! Unfortunately, we did not have the mechanical gas valve for the customers Peerless cast iron boiler in stock to make the repairWe quoted the customer a rough estimated cost for the replacement part to be installed while still on siteCustomer was not receptive to the estimated cost to make the repairsCustomer declined further serviceUpon our departure, the system was operational with the existing gas leak, and the customer still had heatWe strive to exceed our customers expectation and provide consistent quality service, however in some instances this is hard to achieveWe will issue the customer a check for the refund of the Diagnostic that was charged on 1/15/and mail it to the address we have on file
