Attached is the correct response. To whom it may,As a company, we take any and all work related issues very serious As of November 28, 2016, we no longer install, change, or replace any roof cap that is directly related to all furnaces, gas fireplaces, and hot water heater caps.We would also like to thank you for the photographs of the cap We have been unable to fully understand the nature of the problem as we were notified after *** Heating and *** *** performed their repairsThe photographs further help shed light on the issueYou have asserted that Greater Front Range Roofing (“GFRR”) damaged the furnace exhaust system in a way that would cause it not to properly vent through the flue As these photos show, GFRR replaced the rain cap on top of this flue with a brand new one The cap itself, as *** Heating and *** *** would agree because they left it on, is the proper cap for this type of flue Not only did GFRR replace the cap entirely, GFRR painted the entire flue and cap after it was installed As the photographs indicate, the new paint line continues above the paint scraped area which verifies the cap was at the right height after installation What caused the cap to lower on the flue remains unknown, but it clearly lowered after the roof was completedThis may explain why the issue took several weeks after completion to present itself The cap may have slipped due to wind, moisture, or clamp failure Unfortunately, we have no way of knowing, since *** Heating and *** *** was the first to address the issue It is not unlikely that the cap shifted due to extreme wind, which there has been plenty of since the roof was installed and is not a totally uncommon occurrence Contrary to your claim that ownership does not inspect our work, it is simply not trueGFRR is a family owned and operated business that inspects every job it completes We also have highly qualified installation crews who have their own additional inspection checklist Given the fact that the cap was properly installed at completion, no further inspection would have found this type of issue at the completion of the project Unfortunately, it appears an intervening factor completely outside of GFRR’s control caused the issue after completion of the project. Sincerely,Greater Front Range Roofing
My primary intent in requesting a reduction in payment owed for the roofing services of this company was to force the company to take responsibility for their error and implement a quality control procedure that would prevent this problem from occurring in future jobsI was told by the owner that
they never send someone out to check the work of their employeesThis simple failure endangered the lives of my family, and presumably, as this is stated as being a common occurrence, will continue to happen and will endanger the lives of other familiesIf it does happen to someone else, I would like documentation to exist showing that this has happened before nowTherefore, I will happily forego the offer of $to keep quiet and say this has been resolved when the roofer clearly intends to continue doing business as usual. Also, in the response, the owner claims to have made several attempts to contact me, we received only one phone call...made in response to my initial email stating the problem and that I had stopped paymentAt that time, the owner said he would discuss the issue with his partner and call me backInstead, we received a letter from an attorney stating that a lien would be placed on our house if we did not pay the full amount within hoursBecause he has made these claims, I would like to see proof (such as phone company records or certified mail receipts) of those attempted contacts. As far as calling the heating system company first, we had no idea that the smell was caused by a roofing issue until after the heating person found the issueThe repair had to be done immediately for safety reasons, or we would have had to leave the house.Furthermore, slander involves making statements about an individualI have made no claims and do not intend to post any claimsTherefore, posting reviews on online forums such as *** *** can hardly be considered slanderous.I have attached pictures of the vent that you can see scrap marks as to where it was not installed properly
