During the current closure of Great Blue Resorts at Vine Ridge we were required to pay 50% of annual fee's last September 2019 which is what we agreed on.
Now in April 2020 there are forcing us to pay remainder of fee's although resort as no idea when we it will officially open for 2020 season with of course COVID-19 restrictions. They have explained that they will adjust fees based on opening and offer a "CREDIT" on our account for next year. We aren't pleased with this credit situation as we could be using this monies to help us during the current pandemic.
Also another alarming issue is within there 2020 occupancy agreement which was revised recent to include the following, " 9. Any social media usage will NOT mention or provide pictures of your location." What the heck does that mean, apparently next steps are police state enforcement.
We purchased a park model cottage from Great Blue Resorts at their *** in Severn Bridge, Ontario (Muskoka) in 2016. When we purchased the cottage we were told that we could sell the cottage anytime on our own or we could choose to sell it through the resort for a fee of $4K CAD (advised by Sales Rep ***). We have been recently (since the end of last season) looking to sell our cottage and were told (last year) that it would cost us $5K CAD to sell it ourselves and $15K CAD if we wanted to sell it through the resort. This year those amounts have changed once again to between $8K and $10K CAD and $16K and $18K CAD respectively. They cite marketing and commission fees as the reason for these fees. My complaint is three fold; i) we were told very specifically what it would cost to sell the cottage, and it was a large part of our buying decision because it gave us comfort that we could sell it in the even that something changed in our lives; ii) we were never advised of a change in their program or the fees until such time that we were looking to sell the cottage and; iii) these fees are exorbitant, regardless of what option is chosen. I think this issue needs to be reviewed as I do not believe that this is a fair business practice.
Other (requires explanation) We would like a resolution where we can sell the cottage under more reasonable conditions. I appreciate that there may ne administration and/or commission applicable to the transaction which we are willing to pay, but the fees in question are unreasonable. I am willing to settle my complaint if Great Blue Resorts can provide a solution for the sale of my cottage with more resonable fees, including the option of the sale of the cottage back to Great Blue Resorts.
