Beware truck drivers and consumers that use CARGO INSURANCE!
Great American Insurance Group is the worst commercial insurance your money can buy.
Take your business and hard worked money somewhere else.
My truck was damaged during transport and I filed a cargo claim with them almost 2 month ago.
Untill this day they are doing investigation and wining about paperwork when I already provided a copy of the title for the truck in my name. They asked for a mountain of documents, but failed to present a plan to either repair or replace my truck.
It’s been 2 very long and frustrating month that my 2017 F250 was damaged. I call and email the people working on this claim (and their supervisors) every day. They don’t pickup the phone and don’t call back. Sometimes I get an email from them but all they say is that they are still investigating. I have no clue what’s going on.
Terrible handling of claims and customer service.
If you had a horrible experience with this company as well, please let me know.
I know insurance companies fight very hard not to pay claims, I just never seen a claim dragged this long.
My car was damaged during shipping from *** to ***. I have all the necessary documentation to support my claim. The agent responsible for handling my claim, Jason C, has been contacting me through email and phone to give updates on my claim. I was notified that the insured did have cargo insurance to cover the damage to my vehicle. The agent has been “attempting to contact the insured” for the past 5 months, from relentless phone calls, to sending certified letters. He informed me today that if he cannot get ahold of them to “verify coverage” that he would be dismissing my claim.

Dear Ms. Piaga:We acknowledge receipt of a complaint filed by Mr. *** regarding a claim that was filed withGreat American for damage to his car that occurred while it was being shipped from *** to***. *** was contracted to haul Mr. vehicle. Mr. submitted a claim toGreat American on January 27, 2020 for damage to his 1964 *** that occurred duringshipment between November 20, 2019 and November 27, 2019. Mr. provided shippingdocumentation, picture of the damage and a repair estimate. We acknowledge that Mr. has provided information needed to support his claim, however, GreatAmerican’s contract is with ***. They are required to cooperate with our investigation andprovide us with information needed to confirm coverage under their policy. Unfortunately, *** has not cooperated with our investigation, as such, we have not been able to confirmcoverage under their policy contract. We have spoke with Mr. and informed him that we are attempting to obtain the informationneeded from ***, but have been unsuccessful. Additionally, we informed Mr. thatshould *** continue to not cooperate with our investigation and fulfill their obligations underthe policy contract, we will not be able to provide coverage or issue payment on this claim. Please do not hesitate to contact us should additional information be required.Sincerely,Caryn NDivisional AVPProperty & Inland Marine Claims
The company has not resolved the complaint. They have responded in the same manner for the past six months in order to avoid settling the claim. I am not satisfied with their response or their inability to respond in a timely manner. Great American Insurance Group has confirmed that the insured(***) did have cargo insurance at the time my vehicle was ***ed. Their inability to contact their insured to “verify coverage” is an invalid excuse to not pay out on my claim. I just spoke with a representative that told me that I should file a claim through my own insurance to have the damages covered. I informed her that their business practices are unethical. How is an insurance company allowed to collect insurance premiums from their customers, have claims representatives that verify coverage, and still not pay for the damages caused by the insured party? The representative informed me that I do not have business with Great American Insurance Group and that their business is with ***. I informed the Representative that I became a “party” the day that *** took possession of my vehicle as cargo to *** it across country.

They drag their feet in settling our claim. All claims were submitted by March 19 and still no checks. Their service representatives lied to me twice
