The business owner subcontracts out to other small companies to complete the carpentry work but then provides incomplete final products and further, requested more money to fix the mistakes made by the subcontractor.
The business owner returned check that was made out to the business and requested that a check be written to him, Mike F, personally.
The business charged extra for material such as trim and when such was requested they declined to provide it stating that they did not charge for it. Emails stating the charges were presented and then they declined to provide saying the labor was not provided. Copies of invoice with detailed labor provided and the business till refused to provide the product and complete the trim work.
Mistakes were made in the installation of the cabinets such as the contractor screwing the cabinets in the wrong places or missed cut on the panels. The company offered no resolution to most imperfections. The layout of the kitchen was changed to hide screw holes and the final product was not the original layout pictured and includes off cut pieces of trim that is visible. At the island area the paneling was cut mistakenly and the company charged extra to cover their mistake with granite.
After granite countertop installation the electrical outlets were left hanging out of the wall. The company said they did not put them back in, yet they were the ones to remove such when they installed the granite backsplash. I received an electrical jolt up my arm trying to screw the outlet back in to secure it and then paid an electrician to put the outlets back in.
The owner of the company is unprofessional and a bully. He has been threatening me to pay the remaining balance of $504, which includes additional charges due to their subcontractors cutting mistakes.
January 15,2020 A signed agreement was made on 10/30/2019 with ***.:
At my initial meeting with *** we quoted her a kitchen for $15,886. After thinking about our estimate, she then called me and said our prices were a little too high and could only afford between $13,000 to $15,000. We discussed items we could remove so that she can afford this purchase and we gave her a $2,000 discount on the cabinets giving her a kitchen for $13,886. This cost included, *** white cabinets, delivery fee, 53 sqft of *** Lt granite, D bowl sink, sink cutout, template and installation of the countertops, demolition of existing kitchen and installation of cabinets, island, bench seating, and wall cabinets.
When we left her house, on November 29in she was in love with her kitchen however she had a balance which was left unpaid. When we made numerous calls to collect her balance upon every call something new was wrong with her kitchen. We revisited her home 3 additional times, still without her contracted payment. Upon our last visit, she asked if we could remove her trash and her dad will call us to make her final payment. We removed her trash and never received payment.
On our contract, we were not compensated to do any trim work, flooring, painting, electrical for we cannot perform finish work. *** still has an outstanding balance with our company and all the contracted work was completed on November 29th, making her in breach of contract.
This has become a civil suit and will be handled by our attorney.
