Failed to stand behind installation issue.
The seal around the farm house sink failed allowing water to enter under the countertop and running down the cabinet damaging the cabinet. The company claims it was a settling issue. However, there is no indication of a settling issue. Other contractors believe that during the installation the sink was not properly sealed. The company would not stand behind their services and would not pay for the new cabinet and installation. The cost was around $1100. They did reseal the sink but took about two months to schedule.
Reimburse the cost of the cabinet and installation.
In summary the job was installed on September 13, 2017. We received a complaint in June of this year that the seal around the sink had broken. We responded with a service call on JUNE 29, 2018 and found that the sink had pulled away from the counter top. We resealed and warned owner that if the cause of the settling was not address it may pull away again. NOTE: this sink was provided by the customer, and mounted by the customer or their contractor before our installation of the tops, as we have before pictures to prove.
This type of sink is not supported by the counter top and if it pulls away from the counter top it is not a counter top installation issue, but the sink/support system.
As a side note we have also seen this in cases of an imbalanced garbage disposals.
We have attached the before and after install pictures of the job for your reference.
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
The complaint was originated in April 2018. On or around April 19, 2018, an email was sent to ***, Marketing & Sales Manager, inquiring of when a representative would be sent to evaluate the problem. The email was sent from the dealer who sold the product. On April 24, 2018, *** and Rick Poncsak, Account Specialist, inspected the problem. After that there was no contact until early June when a call was received from *** scheduling the repair for June 29, 2018. When the technician came to repair, he questioned why he was there and acted as if there was not a problem. At no time was there any discussion about the sink pulling away. The only response given was a settling issue. There is no garbage disposal installed with this sink so that would not be a factor. Regarding the comment about the sink, In most if not all quartz counter installs, most sinks are under mount. If the company are professionals in the business, one would believe that they would be able to address these issues to prevent them from happening or sell the sink with the countertop as one piece. NOTE: it is worth mentioning when the issue was discussed with the Operations Manager, ***, he said he would look into the situation but did not request any contact information. It took a complaint to get some type of response.
