Failure to properly pack car wheels for return to Tire Rack resulting in one wheel arriving there damaged and refusal to communicate with Tire Rack.
Goodyear has been servicing my 1998 Volvo V70 and told me that it needed to have the wheels replaced because air was leaking out and the internal corrosion was so bad it could not be fixed. So I ordered new wheels from Tire Rack (TR). 17 inch came in which Goodyear said could not be properly aligned so a stabilizing pin could be put in and that the V70 took 15 or 16 inch wheels. TR authorized their return and sent instructions how the wheels should be packed. I gave the Return Authorization email and instructions to Goodyear and was assured the wheels would be properly packed. TR arranged for UPS to pick them up. On 2/17/2020 TR sent an email stating that one wheel had not been properly backed and arrived damaged. It attached photos to the email. I called Goodyear and it denied that it had not packed the wheels properly and gave me an email address so I could send it and TR my emails. Several were sent on the 17th. The wheel that was damaged had arrived late, not with the other 3. So I thought that something happened during its shipment and that UPS caused the damage. I asked for more information from TR which was not forthcoming. At 3:23 PM on the 17th, Goodyear called and told me that it was decided that it would not communicate with TR. I objected and asked for it to send an email verifying what it told me about properly packing the wheels undamaged for UPS to get them. During that conversation, I was told that Goodyear had never taken any of the wheels out of the boxes because it saw that the wheels were too large for the V70. I had been waiting for the wheels to be put on and saw a mechanic put one of the new wheels, without a tire on it, onto the left rear wheel base. It was taken off later and I was told that there was an alignment problem and that the V70 took 15 and 16 inch wheels. So I was lied to and that made it more likely that the wheel that had been put on the car was negligently packed and damaged, as a result, during the return shipment. Since TR won't issue my 127.34 refund and holds me responsible for the damaged wheel, I have asked Goodyear to compensate me and I will give it my rights to the damaged wheel so it can work out with TR what will be done. I have objected to TR holding me responsible because it had sent the wrong size wheel and it made all the return shipping arrangements with UPS. I have filed a Revdex.com Complaint against TR late on 2/17.2020 when they failed to respond to my last mid-afternoon email.
I want Goodyear to reimburse me the $127.34 I paid Tire Rack for the wheel and I will give it my rights respecting that wheel to Goodyear so it and Tire Rack can resolve the problem. I have asked TR to issue the refund. Perhaps they can agree to each paying half. Tire rack said it could sell the wheel as a damaged wheel. Goodyear and Tire Rack can then also look to UPS for compensation.
Customer called back after tire rack refunding his money for ups damaging his wheels. This is a complaint against tire rack and ups. Goodyear holds no responsibility
I previously wrote to you that the problem was fully settled in my favor. Tire Rack issued a full refund so I no longer needed to pursue my claim against Goodyear. So please dismiss it.
