she is not due a refund from [redacted] payment method she chose to accept the inmates call was [redacted] When the call connected [redacted] system placed the full amount of $11.16 on hold. Once the call was completed [redacted] was only charged for the actual talk time which was $6.86. the $4.30 was voided. service provider for have been disconnecting due to a 3-way call detect. [redacted] states that he did not attempt a 3 way call; he was just letting his brother listen to some music.We have attempted to contact [redacted] several times by telephone and e-mails however he has responded to any of our messages. [redacted] needs to be aware that the telephone equipment in correctional facilities is much more sensitive than home telephone equipment. As a result, you will not be able to download, access or play a “restricted” song or track on your tablet. Please further be advised that you will not be given a refund of the purchase price of a song or track that you were able to download but that is subsequently deemed to be “restricted” by the PA DOC. Upon your release from PA DOC custody, however, GTL will give you a one- time opportunity to download any “restricted” song or track that you purchased but were unable to access.[redacted] downloaded the songs at his own risk. Please review the resolution below and consider closing it as closed as resolved.The Consumer contacted the Revdex.com because the chargeback in the amount of $54.75 never appeared back on her credit card.When a consumer requests that a payment be reversed on their credit card, their bank sends us the chargeback for the amount that was originally paid. Our records show that the chargeback did occur. however the $54.75 never was credited back to [redacted]p's account. When we contacted [redacted]'s bank they indicated that they had no record of the chargeback. that the option she chose to accept the inmates call is called "AdvancePay ONE CALL". This option is for someone who does not anticipate more than 1 call from the inmate so they would not want to set up an AdvancePay account. Ms. [redacted] ask the CSR that investigated this complaint to assist her with setting up an AdvancePay account for future calls. Ms. [redacted]'s calls are billed at $4.24 for the 1st minute and $0.79 for each additional minute. Ms. [redacted] resides 44 miles from the correctional facility. Ms. [redacted] can avoid paying the credit card convenience fee if she adds money to her account using a check or money order. letter serves as a formal response to the complaint listed above.The Consumer contacted the Revdex.com because she was told by GTL that if she would like to continue to receive calls from an in The York County Jail (PA) she would have to set up an AdvancePay account. Ms. [redacted] would like to continue having her calls billed to her LEC.We investigated this complaint and contacted Ms. [redacted] via e-mail and explained to her that when a customer exceeds the velocity threshold we ask the customer to set up an AdvancePay account.The velocity thresholds are not set forth by her Local Exchange carrier but by where the call originates from – GTL's phone platform at the facility. Customers like herself that receive a high amount of calls within various interval could be subjected to opening an AdvancePay account that needs to be funded through various channels (e.g. check, money order, credit cards). This practice in standard in the industry and there are hundreds of thousands of customers utilizing this service every month.As a onetime courtesy we have reset Ms. [redacted]’s account back to LEC billing.
