I am the waitress stated in the complaint. The couple came into Gipper's 3/23 they were greeted and sat. I said hello and got their drink order. take her boyfriends order- he ordered an appetizer and he then questioned me on the jambalaya, I explained the dish and that it was spicy, it is a signature dish and very much liked for the person who knows jambalaya. He then asked me what rice pilaf was and I explained and he ordered his meal. I was then back in the kitchen after serving their meals and [redacted] instructed me to go back to the table because the gentleman wanted to order something else and would pay for it.
He then told me he could not eat the jambalaya and ordered a rib eye steak med. well. I told him it would be a bit of a wait and would they like me to take [redacted]'s food to the kitchen so I could serve them together and they said no.
[redacted] was aware I had explained the dish to him and when I dropped their check they asked to speak to [redacted].
We charged them 1/2 price for the meal & I also offered to box it up for them.
Yes, he did order a signature dish and not like it but never have I been at a restaurant where you can order your food, try it send it back order a new dish and not be charged something.
Independent restaurants would be out of business if that were protocol.
I was not rude and did not catch an attitude, I have been in the service business for over 30 years and continue to enjoy it.
My sincere apologies to [redacted] & her boyfriend.
