December 5, I placed a $deposit on a granite statue at Getty Granite Co., LLC in Salem, Connecticut The agreement was that the statue would be ordered and would arrive in April, at which time Getty would call to arrange for pickup The statue was a Christmas gift for April came and went and in May, I called to get the status They had no record of my order After producing the receipt, they indicated they would see what they could do Month after month passed and I continuously called and emailed to get the status Apparently, they were not planning to carry this product any more I tried repeatedly to connect with the owner, Larry G***, only to be shuffled back to the same customer service representativeFinally in December 2016, they indicated they could provide a larger statue at an additional cost of $ I indicated that this is an unacceptable resolution This proposal was presented one year after my deposit was accepted It was my position that they needed to either provide me with the item I purchased, or significantly discount an alternative since they had taken my deposit and used my money for a year and never progressed my case, unless I called or emailed them We finally agreed to part ways with a refund, which arrived January 12, 2017, which is days after my deposit was accepted The refund was for $143.57, no interest after holding and using my money for a year I’m sure they would have charged me interest if I owed them moneyAlthough the service representative was congenial, I felt the overall service, explanation, treatment and protection of the owner was unacceptableThe arrangement was completely one sided and the resolution was embarrassing with the gift recipient and infuriating for the customer I would certainly never do business with Getty Granite Coagain and would steer anyone who asks about them away, based upon their business practices with me
