I took my daughter to the above dentist Maya O, before we came here I asked if they accepted my insurance and they said yes. I was told the dentist was in network. When we got there, I was given a contract of $7328 but based on my insurance, I was given a contracted amount of $5800 for all the dental work including braces that my daughter will receive. Of the contracted amount, my portion was $4300, while the insurance will pay $1500. I signed the contract and paid $500 which was the first fee due. In two weeks when my daughter got the actual braces, we paid $2000 as stipulated in the contract. The next appoint was 3 months later and I made another payment of $1770 which completed my portion of payment to the dentist. My insurance company made a direct payment of $201.50 to the dentist. On August 6th I got a phone call from a lady Pam who is in charge of billing telling me that I had not made any payments and therefore my daughter will no longer be seen at the dentist. I was in the middle of work and I was confused and thought she meant the remaining $1300 that the insurance company owed. Because I was made to understand that if they didn't cover the $1500 I was liable to pay. So I said sure I will complete the payment and later on I will follow up with my insurance. She also told me they were no longer in network with my insurance so the payment will come to me.So I gave her my credit card and I expected approximately $1300 to be charged and thought nothing of it until I saw the credit card charges. I was charged $1941.31 and a second charge of $697.19 which is a total charge of $2638.50.I called the lady back and initially she was dodging my calls and when I finally got a hold of her she tells me that they went of network with my insurance company so I am now liable for the entire contract amount of $7,328. I told the lady that when I came to the office they were in network and we had a contract and if they went out of network they never told me.For the past 6 weeks they dont take my calls
