Review: I contacted this company because they are a NYS certified potable water testing lab. The test results from testing my well water were alarming and are sharply different from several subsequent water tests that were done. What I didn't realize is that Gen-Tech is also a vendor and installer of water filtration systems, which I learned when a $3600 quote was presented along with the test results. While Gen-Tech may meet the NYS requirements for water testing there is incentive for them to return results that are geared to encourage customers to purchase expensive and possibly unnecessary filtration systems, an obvious conflict of interest.Desired Settlement: I would like the water retested and if the prior results cannot be substantiated I would like the testing fee refunded. For instance, the TDS result of 800 would indicate that the water is close to being non potable. My TDS meter shows a result of 190. Other tests show results in the very low 200 range. I challenge Gen-Tech to bring their meter to my home and repeat their findings. However, the purpose of this complaint is to warn others of a potential conflict of interest. As such, the complaint should not be considered resolved in the event that a refund is made.
