Review: Aniytime Garage Door Inc a.k.a DBA GDI Garage Doors a.k.a Whalgreen Overhead Door a.k.a Gold Coast Garage Doors a.k.a North County Garage Doors and other possible aliases gave me a ballpark estimate $150-200 for spring replacement over the phone. That sounded pretty reasonable for me. Today technician came to my house and was "surprised" that I have such a heavy door (24Ga double steel back and front) and explained to me that I need a special spring to hold that giant. He gave me three different options: $288 with 1 year warranty, $388 with 5 years warranty and some other option which I was not interested in. He also told me that the 1 hour of labor would be $140. When I asked him why the total price is such different from the estimate. He explained to me that this is because of my enormously big and heavy door. After he finished his job he called me in. When I walked into garage I realized that he replaced both springs when only one was broken. On my question "why???" he explained that the other spring was damaged as well and he decided to replace it without asking me. BUT he was so "generous" and have not charged for that but put it in a bill as it would be under warranty. At this moment I have got a suspicion. Why he is giving out $388 thing for free? is it just because he is so good guy and want to make me happy? I gave him a credit card number and he left. When I checked the prices for the springs with absolutely identical specs (0.250 x 31 x 1.75) I was shocked. The price for the same thing was in a range $35-$60. I called the company, complained and let them know that I am going to put a bad review on yelp.com. The guy on the phone said - "Go for it." After that I have made a research by the license number #[redacted] and realized that the Internet is full of very similar reviews on that company.Desired Settlement: The bill total was $527.00 (parts $388 & labor $139) + $31.62 (surcharge 6%) = $558.62if they would not fool me and charge a real price for the spring I would pay total:$60 x 2 + $139 = $259 difference is $299.62. I am asking for $299 refund.

Response:
Hello,
Anytime Garage Doors, aka GBI Garage Doors, aka North Coast Garage doors and several other aliases came out to the house yesterday to replace a broken spring
on my garage door. The mechanic was friendly, fast talking, and smooth.
Anytime charged me “around $300 for a new spring and about $200 labor to install it,For a total cost of $507.00. A process that took about 10 to 15 minutes. When I stepped out of the garage to get a credit card, without asking, they plastered stickers on my garage openers and motors.
Let me admit right here I did not get on the web, check costs and do my normal due diligence. This is squarely on me.
I checked today with a reputable company, Sears. They inform me that their top of the line spring with a lifetime warranty costs $99.00 and that it would be another $79.00 to install. Due to my negligence, I was ripped off for $300.
When I called the company to complain, they laughed at me and placed me on hold.
Do not do business with these guys unless you want to feel like a complete it.
Review: I did not authorize the credit card transaction for $978.38 - We were quoted $300.00 from this merchant to replace a garage door spring.Desired Settlement: We would like to be credited for $678.38

Response:
[redacted],
Thank you for the opportunity to respond to this complaint.
After reading through the complaint details, it is unclear why the customer is under the impression that she was quoted $300.00. I have attached a copy of the imprinted, signed invoice/work order agreement which clearly states the total charges. There is no mention of anything for $300.00.
Let me know if you need any further information.
Sincerely,
Office Manager
