Thank you Fulton for making my first writing experience a pleasure!
Your name is the same as my late mother's. I was considering using Fulton, until I saw they have a cautionary grade by Author's Alliance and then I read your review. I'm sorry for your experience. I just finished with a publisher and am not satisfied with them, either. It may be that the pandemic messed thing s up with them. I hope your future book endeavors work out better.
You're really not doing us writers a service by rating a publisher without having completed a project with them. Merely having a nice friendly, happy conversation with a PROFESSIONAL sales person is hardly a valid basis for rating a company!
Mr [redacted] contacted us directly yesterday, and we agreed to give him a refund in the amount of $and of course return his edited manuscript to him
I had Pam Hogan from Fulton Books as my sales person. First thing I noticed she is a very poor listener. After I told her that her price was significantly higher than most she sent me an insulting, sarcastic email telling me that their services were most likely not in my budget in the first place.
very harsh people if you don't do what they want.
"Yes, it's true no one else comes close to doing the level of marketing that we do, and it does come with a cost. The alternative is to pay less to get far less, often just having books printed for you with very limited marketing. There is no comparison. But if it's not in the budget, then of course that's the route that probably makes the most sense for you
I wish your book all the success it deserves.
Pam"

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.I would accept an offer of $750 and return of the manuscriptÂ

Mr[redacted] retained us to edit, design, create a cover, publicize and distribute his book amongst other things, on 9/3/15. He entered into a written agreement with us to pay us the sum of $2392 for these services in monthly installments over a period of eight months. The project was initially delayed...
because Mr. [redacted] said that thinking about his book “was opening up too many old wounds” and then again when Mr. [redacted] lost use of his computer in late September. Nonetheless, we have pressed ahead and completed 2 rounds of edits and revisions for his book. While we are completely willing to release Mr. [redacted] from the remainder of his contractual obligation with us and the remaining required payments, we cannot issue him a full refund as he requests, in that we have expended an enormous amount of time editing and revising his book thus far (well in excess of the $1396 he has paid us to date). We are more than happy to compromise and issue him a $600 refund as well as return his fully edited manuscript to him and release him from all future payments that he is obligate to make to us. We further will agree to resume Mr. [redacted]’s project at any time should he wish to so, and credit him the full amount he has paid to us at that time. We trust that Mr. [redacted] will find this offer more than fair- he will receive a large refund, have had his manuscript professionally edited by us twice, and the option to resume the publication of his book at any time should he so decide in the future. Respectfully, Steve R[redacted]
I'm sadden every time I think about the book Fulton published for me which cost me $3558. Fulton Publishing appears to be just another SCAM that lures/attracts amateur writers with their broken promises of assisting you with marketing your book. They seem to be only interested in a one time sale and not interested in a satisfied customer, thereby, increasing their chances of conducting repeat business. I thought the only risk that I was taking was with the storylines of my book. I was sadly mistaken. I'm embarrassed by the finished book but the poorly edited copies don't seem to bother them that their name Fulton is attached. Fulton Publishing don't edit as they agreed. When Fulton placed my copy of the portal with some edits. I approved ALL edits but they didn't make the changes because I didn't list each edit that I approved. This required step was never explained. I selected "I approve all edits" and I assumed that was understood. I have since pointed this out to Fulton and listed each necessary edit. I requested to be notified when the changes are made BUT I have yet to receive that notification. I trusted Fulton. Because I'm honest I thought that they would be too!
PLEASE give me at least half of my money back!
FULTON professional edits books that you send them? hehe GOOD LUCK WITH THAT... They are SLOW. They do not edit. They might run it through a grammarly type program but don't expect it to be edited. You cannot communicate with the person who does the actual work. You will be getting a "he said - she said" type of communication that no one understands. You'll be sending your manuscript back to them a half of a dozen times...
Mr. [redacted] contacted us directly yesterday, and we agreed to give him a refund in the amount of $750 and of course return his edited manuscript to him.
I was so happy to receive my completed books in hands and wrote them a nice thank you letter. Then when it was time to check on how the sales were going I was surprised to find that their numbers were way lower than just the sales I knew about personally. I've autographed dozens of my book for people and I myself purchased several books from Amazon. All of this was done just in my city. The facebook page I created for the book tells of the people who bought the book and commented on much of it. I just checked again last night and according to them I haven't sold a book in a year. I tried to track the sales of my book myself and found that Fulton has a code lock that prevents me from finding out about my sales. Fulton has not reported on my book in a year and their numbers are far lower than the numbers I know of just in my city. It looks like Fulton is selling my book and keeping the money and not reporting the sales to me. I'm going to get an attorney and see what can be done...I'll keep you posted.
Did you get an attorney? I was wondering what happened next because I am having the same issue.
I may have that same issue. I owe $600 .but I already have complaints. They didn't edit my book what so ever. They took my manuscript and put a cover on it. Grammar is terrible. It defiantly noticeable. Kind of lost on what to do
I would like to thank Fulton Books for helping me achieve a dream. A dream I did not even consider of following until I was encouraged to do so and they helped bring it to life. I would definitely release another book with them again.
