With the pandemic causing huge increases in buying of groceries throughout the country, especially in certain categories, this has put a tremendous strain on the supply chain and on demand for items. Manufacturers are not able to keep up with production and some costs from them have gone up because of this. It is mostly the case with commodity items such as meat and dairy products. One of the items that gets mentioned the most is eggs. Egg costs to us tripled in a 2 week period, as it did for everyone buying eggs on the market. This is partially due to Easter, which always increases demand and drives the cost up, but also due to other factors that caused a shortage of eggs. When costs increase to us, we must raise our price proportionately in order to maintain a small profit in which to pay our employees, etc. I can assure you that we have not raised any prices where costs to us for that item were not raised. We maintain a very small profit margin and would never try to take advantage of our customers, especially in such times as these.
We appreciate all of our customers and always try to find ways to save them money. These past several weeks have been very difficult for all of us and have caused shortages of product, cost increases on some items and other things that are unprecedented in this business. We will continue to work diligently to keep prices as low as we possibly can, and will only raise a price when our cost is raised.
