We have tried to explain to this customer a "check engine" light will come on because of over several thousand faultsWhen he came in he had a fault code for DPF was full of ash, this is part of the emission system and we can not clear those codes without the DPF filter
being removed and cleaned or replaced and once that is done we can run a system check and clear code for a full filterOnly after we informed the customer of the code did he tell us he had replaced the filter himself, we ask for a copy of an invoice where he purchased it and when he provided one to us we cleared the code and reset the minder. On 1-8-the customer came in with code *** fuel system leak, we found #injector leaking, replaced it, cleared the code and test drove it to verify the repair, the engine ran fine and did not re-code up.The unit was in our shop with a fuel leak that was not evident, we ran the trouble shooting guide and found the pump leaking internally, this pump had been replaced by us but it was a couple of years ago not last year. This unit has around 725,miles, these are unrelated failures and we tried to explain to the customer that DPF filters and injectors are maintenance items and HP fuel pumps are mechanical and just failWe have reduced the diagnostic charges for the current visit and the customer is picking the unit up
