Review: I hired [redacted] who represented himself to be the alleged owner of Fox Landscaping to do a hardscaping job at a cost of $17,000. I paid [redacted] $9,000 to start the job and the stone delivered from a PA quarry cost $5,300. After 1 week of prep, I was warned by my builder and 2 other landscaping firms that the work [redacted] and his Father was doing was headed for disaster. I also was concerned when his father started off by putting the entire patio and walkway in the wrong location. Later they tried to convince me that the patio needed to be 5 feet above ground level. The sample wall which was suppose to be a PA dry stack field stone wall was a disaster as well and had to be dismantled. After meeting with [redacted] and his father to discuss the issues, [redacted] blew up and accused our builder of getting in his way of building a walkway and patio. That was the final straw and we told them to get off of our property. The patio and sidewalk prep work had to be be removed and the new hardscaper had to start the entire project from the beginning. I ended up paying the new firm $18,000 to get the entire job done plus the cost of the stone of $5,300. Not only did a $17,000 job turn into $27,000 job my entire landscape job is now 2 months behind schedule. [redacted] is also not the owner of the company but misrepresented himself as the owner. Please warn other people to stay away from these people - they have no talent or knowledge of how to do hardscape.Desired Settlement: Since I used some of the stone [redacted] ordered I'm not expecting him to pay for any of the stone at a cost of $5,300 but I expect him to refund me the balance of $3,700. However, he feels I owe him for labor and stone fill (which I had to have removed by the new firm) and only wants to refund me $700. Again, my $17,000 job has now cost me $27,000 due to Fox Landscaping botching the entire project. Additionally I have 2 major landscaping firms plus my builder who will attest to the above facts.

Response:
FOX LANDSCAPING IS A S CORPORATION. WHICH MEANS THERE IS A PRESIDENT, MY FATHER, AND VICE PRESIDENT WHICH IS ME. I HAVE 50% OF SHARES AND MY FATHER HAS 5004 OF SHARES, THAT MAKES ME A PARTNERWE DID NOT MAKE A MESS OF THE PROPERTY. TWICE WELL GUY FLOODED JOB SITE,AND THE BUILDER'S FORKLIFT WAS BUMPING INTO TREES AND PUTTING RUTTS IN THE GROUND.THE PRICE OF JOB WOULD COST 16,000.00. HE (THE HOMEOWNER) WAS THE ONE MAI<ING CHANGES. IF WE HAD EXTRA STONE I WAS NOT GOING TO CHARGE HIM FOR CHANGES. HE WAS MAKING CHANGE SlNCE DAY ONE, THE BACK PATIO WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A 19' CIRCLE WHEN THE CHANGES WERE FINALLY DONE IT WAS ALMOST 30' LONG. EVERY DAY WE MET AND TALKED ABOUT CHANGES SO HE WAS AWARE OF EVERYTHING, HE APPROVED OF EVERYTHING AND DID NOT HAVE A PROBLEM UNTIL THE NEXT PAYMENT WAS DUE. BY THIS TIME THE BASE WAS DONE, WHICH IS WHEN THE SECOND PAYMENT WAS DUE. WE VERBAL AGREED TO THIS WHEN WE SIGNED THE CONTRACTS, SINCE WE WERE DOING ALL WALK WAYS, PATIO AND WALL AT THE SAME TIME. WE WOULD GET HALF OF THE BALANCE WHEN THE BASES WERE COMPLETE AND FINAL BALANCE WHEN JOB WAS COMPLETE. THE BASE WAS DONE ON TUESDAY.WE HAD A MEETING THAT WEDENSDAY AT LUNCH FOR THE NEXT DEPOSIT AND TO LOOK AT THE WALL. HE APPROVED THE WALL. MADE IT LONGER WHICH WE AGREED TO AND HE SAID HE WOULD HAVE THE CHECK BY THAT FRIDAY FOR THE REMAINING BALENCE. I GOT A CALL THAT WEDNESDAY NIGHT AT 8PM TELLING ME HIS PARTNER DOES NOT LIKE BACK PATIO AND WALL. HIS PARTNER WAS NOT EVEN INVOLED OR WANTED TO BE INVOLVED WITH THIS PROJECT. HE TELLS ME ITS MY FAULT THE PATIO IS 3'-4' HIGH AT THE END. HE IS THE ONE WHO APROVED ff A DAY BEFORE AND WOULD NOT BE THAT HIGH IF HE 010 NOT CHANGE THE INITIAL PLAN. AFTER HE APPROVED THE WALL, HE SHOWED ME A PICTURE OF A WALL THAT HE WANT.ED HIS TO LOOK LIKE. I LOST MY TEMPER. HE COULD HAVE STOPPED WORK TO CHANGE THINGS 2 DAYS AGO BUT DIDN'T SO l L£FT THE MEETING. I CAJ...L£0 THE NEXT MORNING AND LEFT A MESSAGE, SAYING I WOULD CHANGE THE PATIO, BUY BACK THE FIELD STONE THAT HE PICK OUT AND BUY DIFFERENT WALL STONE. HE SENT ME A TEXT SAYING WE WOULD DISCUSS IT WITH ME OVER THE WEEKEND. HE NEVER CALLED BACK. I WAS DOING WORK IN HIS DEVELOPEMENT THAT NEXT THURSDAY AND I SAW ANOTHER COMPANY WORKING ON THE PROJECT. I HAVENT HEARD ANYTHING FROM HIM IN A MONTH. HE THEN CALLED SAYING HE WANTED $3112.00 BY END OF NEXT BUSINESS DAY OR HE WAS CALLING ANGIES LIST, GOING TO CALL A LAWYER, AND PUT ME ON A DO NOT USE LIST IN HIS DEVELOPEMENT. I CONTINUED TO WORK FOR MY CUSTOMERS IN HIS DEVELOPEMENT AND OTHERS IN THERE.I HAVE BEEN IN BUSINESS SINCE 1994. I DID MY FIRST HARDSCAPE PROJECT IN 1995 JCPI CERTIFIED IN 2006, I HAVE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH WORKING WITH A CUSTOMER, I DID A 600 SQFT PATIO THE WEEK AFTER I LEFT THIS JOB AN GOT AN [A] REVIEW ON ANGIE LIST. I LET MY 20 YEARS OF CUTOMERS AND MY ANGIE LIST REVIEWS TO TALK FOR ME.I WILL GIVE HIM $743.00 AND NOTHING ELSE. I HAVE LOST TIME AND MONEY ON THIS JOB DUE TO THE HOMEOWNER NOT KNOWING WHAT HE WANTS AND HIS COUNTLESS CHANGES. I SHOULO"V.E STAYED WITH TH.£ INITIAL CONTRACT.AND I BET HIS PATIO NOW IS NOTHING LIKE THE DRAWING OF MY CONTRACT.I HAVE ALL THE EMAILS AND A JOURNAL OF THE JOB IF YOU NEED THEM.
