Four Seasons Landscaping was hired by our former contractor in July of 2012 to work on our building site. Four Seasons was hired to top-dress our building site where trees and brush had been removed, then seed and mulch the finished area. The top-dressing was done well. Four Seasons quoted $1,500.00 for the entire job. Without our knowledge or permission, the contactor had Four Seasons seed another area, which they called "Phase 2". The "Phase 1" area grew poorly, the Phase 2 area grew worse. I complained to the contractor several times about the poor seed growth in both areas, but they did nothing about it. The soil continued to erode. I eventually reseeded the first area with a hay and pasture mix called BLM #4, which I bought from a local farmer's coop. I also placed landscaping mesh in several areas to stabilize the eroding soil. The reseeding with BLM #4 grew well. The "phase 2" area, which I paid an additional $600.00 for, grew much worse than the Phase 1 area. The main purpose of the entire seeding was to prevent erosion and help stabilize the land. The seeding in the Phase 2 area grew so poorly that we had severe erosion problems on the building site, which cost over two thousand dollars to repair. The erosion began to undermine the septic tank and a large retaining wall. We had to back-fill both areas with several truck loads of crushed rock to stop the undermining and stabilize the ground. I have date-stamped photographs and email correspondence with the contractor that illustrate the above problems and document the necessary repair activities.
