Review: I purchased numerous flowering plants from Four Seasons. I just so happened to have seen an article warning consumers about the dangers of purchasing plants treated with neonicotinoids which kill pollinators (birds, bees and beneficial insects). The article listed several companies that use these toxic and poisonous chemicals, so I checked my recent purchases. Sure enough, the plants I purchased from 4 seasons were listed. I immediately called and spoke to the owner [redacted] who was not helpful despite the quote from [redacted] stating: "We have always enjoyed the interaction with the customers and making sure that they get the right answers."
When I voiced my concern and shared the information, he said that they do not check the growing practices from the companies whose products they buy. He also said it would take too much time to do that and it wouldn't be profitable as a business. I was very upset and told him about the crisis we are facing with birds and bees dying and that I could not in good conscious keep these plants knowing that I am doing harm to the environment. In the U.S. last year, 40% of all bees died! He told me he will not let me return any of the plants, despite the fact they are all in good shape and some purchased within 24 hours of my call to him.
There is no return policy posted, or printed on the receipt, nor did anyone tell me of any particular stipulations in returning items, particularly dangerous ones.
*Further of note: My first purchase was on 5/16, I am disputing 42.80 of the 109.08 total which reflects the flowering plants purchased. The second purchase was on 5/27 and I am disputing 72.73 of the 109.05 total, which reflects the flowering plants.Desired Settlement: I would like to return all the plants I purchased, with a credit issued to my credit card effective immediately. As a customer for the last three years, I'd like an apology for his rude behaviour. Ideally and additionally, I would like for the store to print the dangers to the environment by purchasing these plants. If they were smart, they would carry plants that are beneficial and not harmful. I could have gone to [redacted] or [redacted] if I wanted to degrade the planet.
