I was completely scammed by Dr. R and the office manager Michelle could not offer a solution. I called to make an appointment and said I only want nails and expression. they sent the doctor into the room and he started looking at his ears and I said I dont need an exam, I only want the nails and the gland. he said "Uh-huh." He did nothing else then took my dog to the back to perform what I asked. They then sprung a surprise charge on me for a medical exam. I told them again I didn't ask for one and the doctor said, " If I go in the room, it costs more." I said I didn't ask for it and requested the manager. She said she understood but they would still charge me. they didn't seem to care that every free cent I have goes to medical bills for my spouse.
This client came in for a scheduled appointment for anal gland expression, pedicure was overdue for an examination. It is our policy that the patient have a current exam with us by the veterinarian (within the last 12 months) before we can perform any other services. This includes vaccinations, anal gland expression, pedicure, ear cleaning, diagnostics, treatments, etc. We had not examined this patient since June of 2018, so the necessary examination was overdue. The examination fee is $48.50. Dr. R offered to discount the exam fee to our $27.00 recheck fee as a courtesy, but the client declined. I then spoke with the client and explained the exam policy. I offered to discount the pedicure charge to 0 from the original price of $18.60, but the client declined this also and left our office.
I am rejecting this response because:
This is 100% untrue. Dr. R first refused to discount anything. When I spoke to the office manager, she offered a free pedicure (in the future) but did not agree to *refundanything. I would've accepted any partial refund even though I should not be charged a penny for an exam, and now I want the entire exam fee back and am not willing to compromise. I'll relay their update with false information to the neighbors on Nextdoor.com, I believe this mishap will cost them customers. They simply shouldn't do this to people who are fighting to stay afloat, we will fight back.

I just spoke to Susan and offered a refund for the exam today of $48.50. Upon further discussion with our new receptionist, our exam policy may not have been relayed at the time the appointment was made. Susan gave me her card information and we refunded that amount back to her card. I believe this matter has been resolved. Thank you.
Thank you, the business has resolved the issue!
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID 14186026, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.
