Found Objects

Review: On April 30, 2015, I chose to purchase a item from this vendor on [redacted] (Rustic Gugu Vine Branch Room Divider Decor, priced at $400). [redacted] has a shipping cost tool that vendors can (but do not have to) associate with their items for sale, and 'Found Objects' has opted to display this tool associated with this particular item. Since the description said that shipping was not included in the cost of purchase (see item at https://www.[redacted].com/listing/196010479/rustic-gugu-vine-branch-room-divide...⇄ I immediately went to the tab to calculate shipping costs and entered my zipcode ([redacted]). Shipping costs came back to $0. I was not surprised, as some vendors provide free shipping, but only to continental US, and the item was quite pricey already and my purchase receipt on the website also showed that shipping was 0$.

Three business days after I paid for the item, I received a message from the vendor asking me if I wanted to get a quote for shipping. I said that I didn't need a quote, since the shipping tool indicated that shipping would be free to my particular zip code. He said that it was 'my mistake', and that if I wanted to cancel the order, there would be a 25% restocking fee ($100!!), even though I had not received the item (so there is no return to be made), and even though the seller did not contact me after I purchased the item to clarify shipping costs, if the shipping calculator tool was not accurate.

To provide some context, I made other purchases that day from other vendors:

1. When a retailer does not provide the shipping cost tool, they have details about how shipping is calculated in the description of the item (see item at https://www.[redacted].com/transaction/[redacted])

2. When a retailer provides the shipping cost tool, they abide by these calculated costs (see item at https://www.[redacted].com/transaction/[redacted]).Desired Settlement: I want a full refund (no $100 restocking fee)
