The purpose of my complaint is misinformation & false advertising provided by Flatslife.com. The company owns a number of rental properties in Chicago. We made an appointment The first agent who met us gave us misinformation different from what was on the company website. When we also asked to see another property he discouraged us.
I called the next day and complained and was given another agent. The second agent took us to two properties we wanted to see. At the second property (the ***) I asked her questions about the policies. One particular policy was in reference to the waiving of the $500.00 move-in fee which the company "supposedly" does if you file an application within a 24 hour time frame. So I asked the agent directly (my adult son was standing next to me) what timeframe were we looking at and she replied with these exact words "It's flexible".
On 1/14 (4 business days later) I called to schedule another appointment to see the same property.Despite giving my availability I kept getting emails from the leasing company changing the appointment time. So I called and asked if we in the meantime I could start the application & went over the policies again. The person I spoke with first was not helpful so I asked to speak to a manager (Daly ***) & told her what the agent had told us in person and asked that they honor & waive the $500 move-in-fee.
She was very defensive & rude citing policies without pausing for a second to hear what I had to say. I told her we should try to reach a resolution since it was her agent who told us that. I also told her about other misleading information given to us from the start(by the first agent) and that honoring what her second agent (Caroline) told us is important because as consumers we have no reason not to trust what the agent representing the co. was telling us.
I believe as a consumer I was mislead.
