While working out at the fit republic gym in Oroville I dislocated my shoulder. A week later I called to cancell my membership. The employee told me I had to come in personally for that to be possible. I informed him that would be impossible because I will be out of town for a long time. I told him I wish to cancell it. I just got $54 tooken out of my bank account two months later. I called to ask how can they keep billing me if I'm out of town indefinitely. I signed up because the said it was month to month without a contract. Yet I tried to cancell and the wouldn't let me. So when I called today they said there is an email I could fill out to cancell via email. I was very upset because this was the first time I have heard of this possiblity. If they would have told me this when I first tried to cancell I would have done it immediately. Instead they kept billing me without my consent. So I called and the manager says that the email was always an option and doesn't know why her employees didn't tell me. She is saying it is impossible for them to not mention the email. I am 100% certain that the person I called iniatally told me I would have to come in to cancell. I have been paying them for at least three months unwillingly. I would like that to be reversed and the money to be paid back. I would be happy with them just returning the last $54 they took out on February 3rd. I feel like they withheld information to get more money, and drag out this process. A month to month non contact should not be able to keep taking money out , after verbally trying to cancell.
.
We spoke with the manager at the location and she is unaware of any previous attempts to cancel. She did speak with him over the phone and informed him that he could send in an email. We received his email to cancel his membership on February 4th, 2020. Our records indicate several emails and text messages were sent to Mr. in attempt to collect on payments that were declined. The $54 that was deducted from his account was a combination of his past dues and the current month. We would be more than happy to waive the required 30 day notice if he pays for January & February payments that were schedule to occur prior to his email cancellation.
I am rejecting this response because: even if she is unaware of me trying to cancell, I called there a associate months prior and they told me I had to physically come in. It wasnt until They took more money out that I called again and the manager told me about the email cancellation option. She claims all her associates tell everyone about this option. But I can assure you this option was withheld from my knowledge until they took more money and I called and spoke with her. And I recently just recieved another text message with a new bill from them with more recent charges. So I'm still getting billed even after I cancelled with her. The message states that my bill will go to collections. I don't understand how I'm still getting billed currently after clearly I have cancelled their services.
