My husband and I had some major water damage involving a guest house and large work shop/gargage on our property July 7,2016. In looking for help in clean up and restoration, we searched the web, found this service that served our local area, out of Gallatin, Tn., First Southern Restoration. Contacted them, prompt reply, even came day estimate was requested, brought his family, sold us a bill of goods, family business, worked for FEMA, highly approved, Revdex.com 5 star ratings, etc. owner and service provider, Tracy M[redacted] very well versed on himself and services he can and could provide. So, unknowingly, we hired him, paid a deposit, work was to start the very next day using all his huge and fantastic drying machines. The first project we were explained to be done was to pull out all the dry wall in both buildings, app. 2-3 feet from the floor, he had previously shown us that all was soaked, insulation, and would have to be removed, so buildings would dry and then the actual restoration process could begin. This occurs in one area, all others days, days later. He failed to dry out the large garage area as he said would be done, thus a large cabinet/sink was destroyed, because he said"soaked" with water fell apart, made of vinyl covered particle board, of which when water soaked is soft and will collapse, but had it been dried out as he explained, the particle board would return to it's hard state, thus could be moved. The first agreement to our contract was finally accomplished , am being generous with that word, accomplished, on July 22,2016, after much heartache, tears, and even some anger. Indeed, he did meet with some unexpected problems, of which he did address and manage, wasted much time, even left our project, not even half done, took a vacation, leaving his teenage son in control, and different men here working daily, no real project ever completed. He, Tracy, convinced us he could do drywall, mud and finish professionally, had to pay others to come in and finish properly. We offered to rent a dumpster for all trash, etc, he said they would remove, sat outside, in driveway over a week, we hauled off, in his defense, did credit us 250$. But did deface our property. Used our furniture fo saw-horses, no respect for things in our house or buildings. Said would clean as they went, not at all, informed he would build barriers around himself when sanding drywall to prevent dust being everywhere, did not. Said would save area rugs, even explained how they would be dried during the drying process of buildings, found thrown in trash pile. Tore up walls higher than needed, destroying any hope of saving wall papered areas. After many calls, complaints, meetings, discussions, this work relationship was terminated by us July 22,.2016. Very unsatisfactorily done, always with excuses. We are both profession people, dealing with the public on daily business. We feel Mr. M[redacted] was less than honest, presented himself well, well versed, can easily sell himself and his services, can easily take advantage of honest people just asking and trusting people to do what they say they are going to do. This has been a nightmare the will take time to heal, still paying out money for our restoration, is progressing nicely, soon to be over, no thanks to First Southern Restorations! Just a warning to other honest people seeking work to be done, as presented, as sold, can easily present a con to unsuspecting people in need. Thank you, Deb Q
