First Responder EMS

Review: Our newborn had to be airlifted to Sacramento from Redding for for a crucial surgery.The hospital arranged for the transportation which involved air lift from Redding and ground transportation from Sacramento airport to the [redacted]. This complaint is regarding the charges for portion of the ground transport from the airport to hospital. First Responder EMS billed $4680 to our insurance and the insurance paid them at 90% ($4083). Since First Responder EMS was not a participating provider, the provider sent us a bill for the remaining $780 balance. Even though we had the best insurance possible, we were left with nearly $45,000 in out of pocket expenses mainly due to the ambulance providers (both air and ground) charging us beyond what was considered as an allowed amount by the insurance.In this instance, I contacted First Responders and offered to pay 25% ($200) of the remaining due as I couldn't afford the full remaining payment. They chose to send our bill to a collection agency instead.Desired Settlement: I am willing to pay an additional $200 beyond what the insurance already paid to settle this bill. Thanks for your help.
