Review: I purchased a budgie (bird) from this store for the agreed upon price of $89 + tax. The sales man, [redacted], told me I had to have my cage approved by him. When I found an excellent top brand cage from a neighbour and called to have the cage approved I was told that they wouldn't give us the bird unless we purchase the cage from the store. I spoke with the owner who first claimed it was an issue of safety but later admitted that it is really an issue of profit and no matter how good the other cage is, they need to sell us one. I had already paid for the bird approximately three times higher than at other pet stores because these birds are hand raised. If I had been told upfront that the price included that I need to buy a cage, I would have been fine with that. However, to get my children attached to the fact that we have now bought a specific bird and then to change the deal on us is wrong. They gave me no choice but to buy their cage or give back the bird for a refund. With two teary eyed children, I had to return the bird. It is a matter of integrity and honesty.Desired Settlement: If they are willing to change their practice and policy for us without being mean or resentful, I would like to purchase this bird for my children. In the future, they should be upfront with their customers and tell them the full requirements when asked for the price.
