I called for a service tech to check my reverse osmosis water system which was leaking. The company claims they told me it would cost $85 to come and look at the problem. I would have definitely tried elsewhere for that price. But, the service tech came out and seemed to be very confused about the system. He took it apart, glued it and tried it again. The system was still leaking. He said I'd need a whole new system. In the mean time I did some online checking and found the small disc (which had a hole in it) I needed for about $6.00. If you need service look elsewhere. They just want to replace systems that don't need replacing! When speaking to the employee's they seemed like it's ok to just look at something for $85 and move on. I can see if they repaired the problem. But companies do not charge for services if things aren't repaired.
Good morning ***,
I just received a letter in the mail regarding a complaint from ***.
I spoke with *** on 5/3 regarding the $85 service charge. I explained to her that we have always charged a service fee to diagnose any equipment issues, as do majority of all companies in our industry. The fee covers our wages, fuel, diagnostics, and first hour of labor. If *** decided to go with our bid, we would have applied the $85 to the total repair cost. Our service scheduler is very good at informing customers of this charge, and in our system it was noted that *** was aware. After much discussion, I told her we would cover 50% due to her confusion, and she agreed.
I already sent *** a new invoice for $42.50. This matter should have been resolved after our previous conversation. As of 5/13, *** still owes Finken Water Inc $42.50.

I am rejecting this response because:
I was the one that suggested we split the cost because I was not informed of the $85 charge when I called. After getting off the phone and realizing that they were rude and could careless about their business is when I decided that I shouldn't have to pay for a service that was not provided. They never offered any solution. They kept stating how they did tell me and that is how it works. The service guy was there for 10 minutes and didn't even diagnose the problem correctly. They wanted more money to purchase the part that wasn't broken. I found the $7 part elsewhere and it has been repaired just fine since. Seems like they just want to take peoples money. I have discussed this with many people and normally you get a bid regarding the amount after they look at the problem. I will not do business with this company and I will make sure that everyone knows the attitude of the people who work there and of the company. Service was terrible and they didn't want to fix the issue.
