Review: Repair begun 1/26/2014 on water damage to hardwood floor in 650+ sq ft room. Job initially was supposed to involve sanding and painting and replacement of small amount of wood. It became obvious that the entire floor would have to be replaced and repainted with the epoxy paint that was used when the floor was initially finished by same vendor during initial remodeling in 2001. Estimate for repair was verbally stated as $3000-3500 plus materials, and definitely no more than $4000. Final charges on invoices received was
$4,900 plus materials, for total charge of $9,790.00. Checks for materials were written as the business owner requested them, and a final payment was requested and made at the conclusion of the initial work. Only after he was finished with the job did we realize we had paid total of $10,664.90 to owner, which was $874.90 greater than the total of invoices. In addition, there was needed 2 touch-up repainting of a portion of the floor due to damage from replacing the pool table. This touch-up area was not of the same quality, possibly due to mixing the epoxy paint in wrong proportion, and when we attempted to clean that portion of the floor it was apparent that the paint did not hold and could not be cleaned without paint coming up and destroying the finish.
We have tried to contact the owner regarding these issues (overcharge, overpayment, improper final finish) with numerous phone calls to all 3 phone #'s we have listed from March 3, to today, March 24th. The owner has not answered phone, not returned calls or responded in any way to the multiple messages left on multiple phones.Desired Settlement: Respond to our concerns, repaint the damaged floor surface to our satisfaction, and refund at least the $874.90 overpayment, if not also the additional $900 charge over estimate.
